How many of us would be kicked out on our arse if we were caught taking recreational drugs at work.

With the massive salaries these days and the effort and sacrifice they need to make to have the fitness required to play, you would have thought that the AFL and the clubs would be able to stare down the Players Association to enforce illicit drug detection and penalties.

It’s not as if the Players Association are going to get much relief from the government industrial regulatory system to allow and condone the use of illicit drugs at work.

Yes, with the salaries they earn and lifestyle they lead, some are easy targets to go down the illicit drug path, and yes, it’s prevalent in society, but name one job outside that anyone on this site has that would not only condone illicit drug use at work, but would take steps to cover up its use.

Go on try it, tell your boss today what you took this morning before coming into work and see how you get on.

Grow some cajones AFL if you want to be taken seriously.

SET [Old Bastard Rage] = OFF

OK, as you were …

They aren't taking drugs at work they are taking them on their own time.

There is a difference between having the drugs in your system and being under the influence of it. If you didn't rock up to work under the influence of it and you didn't work in a high risk environment then most employers would never know.

I'm obviously stupid.
The AFL has/had a testing scheme that ensured their players weren't using performance enhancing drugs in competition.
And we are now outraged?

The alternative is they don't test and a heap of players are caught and serve long bans.

He didn't fess up and have a test before the "test" to get past it?

He’s clearly a bright spark then.
Though from memory wasn’t it a final he tested positive in?
I guess he pushed the boundaries to play in it

Test and be honest about it.
Faking injury or mental health is a no no for me

Ask Liam Jones, Jed Anderson and Jack Darling about that.
There was none of the doctor patient confidentiality when it came to your covid vaccination status. The AFL was quite happy to declare the players medical history back then

I've watched every minute of two games this year.

Port v West Coast
Richmond v Port

I’ve watched 10 times more NRL than AFL this season.

I understand that I get a minute in to our games and it’s #### it and turn it over

There was a time recently where I would watch almost every game or at least have it on the wireless with an echo but not anymore

I've been like that for years. It's over umpired, over scrutinised and over analysed. It's become a bit boring. I watch Carlton games and that's about it, even then it drives me bonkers with the over officiating.

I watch because I love the contest between two teams.

Passion is pretty much gone and I hardly even find myself barracking games.

I reckon the issue is the AFL don't want players failing tests, simple as that.

They can play the health/safety card all they want, but deep down, it's all about the optics.

Your dead right there, theyve been using the mental health card for a long time now and thats supposed to keep the public from prying.

Just remove the illicit drugs policy, no one else has it
