Talk on the national game

Plenty of Superstars have never won a premiership, some never even play finals.

Aaron Keating won a premiership medal, would never rate him above Boak.

Truly a champion clubman

This is correct. Also not the entire basis of my argument.

Great clubman? Couldn't agree more. Outstanding, in fact.

Great player? Good to very good, for mine.

Rozee on track for 3 AA's inside the first 6 seasons of his career, Butters not far off. Both have won a B&F already and I expect will add to that. Zak already an AFLCA winner, both could very well win an AFL MVP award by careers end.

These sorts of recognitions, for the most part, go from defining an individual career from good-very good to great-legendary and rank your individual legacy to the game, depending how many times you are awarded them. The premierships are more your legacy within your club.

Aside from that, from where Trav's career looked headed at the end of 2014, to where it has ended up - I expected (and hoped for) more, but that is just my opinion.

350 AFL games is a great effort, let's not overthink it.

Based on stats alone, Kane Cornes is a better player than Boak.

No sane person would actually agree with that though!

Good luck to Travis Boak in his 350th today.

Great to see a Glenelg player go on to play 350 at the top level ;)

Well done Trav, certainly eeked everything out of his career by his professionalism, much more talented players have struggled to get to 100 games,

UTILITY Lauren Young will miss the 2024 NAB AFLW season after suffering a serious knee injury playing in the SANFLW at the weekend.

Young came off in the first quarter of West Adelaide’s loss to Woodville-West Torrens on Friday and scans have since confirmed she has ruptured the Anterior Cruciate Ligament in her left knee.

The 2021 SANFLW MVP and Under 18 All-Australian suffered a similar injury to her right knee in late 2021.

“It’s really disappointing for Lauren and the team, knowing how much we all were looking forward to her first AFLW pre-season,” said Port Adelaide’s Head of AFLW Shane Grimm.

“Having experienced a similar injury a couple of years ago, Lauren knows about the hard work ahead of her, but she will approach her rehabilitation with a positive attitude and the support of everyone at the club.”

Young came through Port Adelaide’s Next Generation Academy and was signed late last year as part of the AFLW Expansion Under 18 Talent Pathway pre-signing period.

A real shame as she is a significant talent that everyone has been looking forward to seeing how she would go in the national comp.

Big challenge now to come back from a second significant knee injury at such a young age - from what I saw of the vision, just trying to make a turn without any contact.
