I can’t see it making any difference.

The stadium is no certainty and no stadium no team.

If the AFL stand by that then there's a good chance there is no team. The Tassie state election was catastrophic for the major parties, and with all the deals needed to be done, the stadium won't be one of them.

So final results are in, in the Tassie Election

14 Libs, 10 ALP, 5 Greens, 3 JLN & 3 independents. So the Libs need 4/6 of the cross bench to get legislation through.

I reckon the best chance of the stadium legislation getting through is a deal between Libs and Labs.

There’s a real diversity in the background of JLN and Ind. they’ll be wanting AFL $$$ for the stadium if they were to vote for it.

Grab the popcorn.

Less than 50% of the Tassie population took up the membership option.
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Huh.....

even with $10 membership would anyone have expected half of the entire state to take a membership out for something that is happening for years.

Good point

What I was trying to say, not very well, is that opponents of the stadium can say that when given an opportunity to join up and back in Devil specifically (two weeks out from election) half the state didn’t back it directly.

It’s going to be an interesting 6-12 months in Tassie footy

Agree with what you are saying here and I think I mentioned it earlier about the JLN and getting the stadium as that simply won't happen.

It will be the Libs and ALP agreeing on terms for it to happen, however it's not a politically popular option to back so it would be easy for the opposition to push back here.

Interesting times ahead indeed.

Like others have said I just can't see the team not going ahead. I think the Tassie government are somewhat calling the AFL's bluff.

The AFL will end up either paying some contribution to the stadium or the Tassie Devils will play 50/50 home games at Hobart/Launceston.............if the new stadium doesn't go ahead.

The 18 presidents / Chair and the AFL agreed to the terms, stadium with a roof or no license. I don't think that'll change.
