Obviously moving back home to live with his parents didn't help. This is one guy who needs to get control of his life, and quickly.

West Coast confirms Cousins suspension

West Coast has suspended former captain Ben Cousins indefinitely.
The ban was given to the Brownlow Medallist for breaking team rules after he missed a weights session on Monday morning, chairman Dalton Gooding confirmed today.
Gooding did not comment on why Cousins missed the session, except to say: "Ben has a number of very personal and private issues which the club is helping him to work through."
Gooding said the length of the suspension was not set, but could be as long as the entire season.
Throughout the suspension, Cousins will not be able to train with the club. This is a similar punishment to that handed out to Michael Gardiner last year before he was sacked by the club. Cousins will not be playing for his WAFL club, East Fremantle, this weekend.
In a further statement, the club said: "Ben has failed to fulfil his commitments as a professional member of the West Coast Eagles team to such a degree that his current situation is untenable.
"When Ben has addressed his ability to commit to the required level, his situation will be reviewed.
"It is with great sadness and regret that the club has been forced to take this action against a much-loved champion who has served this club with great distinction for more than a decade."
Cousins, 28, was stripped of the West Coast captaincy last year after he fled from a police booze bus.
Four months ago, the 2005 Brownlow medallist was arrested in Melbourne for being drunk outside Crown Casino.
Cousins won the 2005 Brownlow Medal, has won four West Coast best and fairest awards, is a six-time All-Australian and was voted the 2005 Most Valuable Player by the AFL Players Association.
He captained the Eagles 104 times from 2001-05 and is seventh on the club's games record list, with 231 games (202 goals) since 1

AH summed it up well.
What an absolute tool. He is a class act on the field, brilliant player and all that but he is a loose cannon off it. He will waste the rest of his career if he's not careful. Unbelievable really.. first he has lost the captaincy, he could have been the official captain of a premiership side, now he is still getting himself in shit, just before the season kicks off, when the Eagles could be on the verge of something big with the team they have at their disposal.

If his sister still lives with his folks then perhaps moving back there isn't in either of their best interests

Might be an interesting 2008 draft.Maybe Kerr and Cousins on the market? And 15 clubs would be willing to take the risk on both of them.Make no bones about it.

I am sure St Kilda will happily have them both!

I don't think the Eagles would give up on both at the same time, and with Kerr having plenty of time up his sleeve Cousins would surely be the one to go unless he can get his life in order (or to a standard the club requires) ... Agree though, if the Eagles were looking to move on either of them all 15 clubs would be interested.
Amazing how much more you can get away with as a proven or decorated player, has their behaviour been any worse than Laurence Angwin's?

Justed watched the Chairman who was under a barrage of questions from the media, struth, what a job.Pack of hounds were all over him like a rash.He did well to hold the official line of "Ben has alot of very personal and private issues".
Speculating on some blokes private life is pointless.Much interest around the land on the 'personal and private issues' no doubt.

Tell you what, if Chris Judd ends up trading himself back to a Victorian club, and messrs Cousins, Kerr & Fletcher continue on their self-destructive paths we could see a quick end to an era. Let's hope those guys can sort themselves out as they are wonderful players.

Now we hear stories of Daniel Chick and Andrew Embley having a punch up. What in hell is going on over there in the west? No wonder Judd wants to go home.
