Is it so hard* to believe that Collingwood pull a big crowd, despite their lack of on-field success? They are one of the richest clubs, their set up off the field is second to none, their supporter base is easily in the top 3, it makes sense that the AFL make a commercial decision. Who said friday nights are prime time? The amount of fri night footy i've seen over the years is virtually zero, so how is that a "huge advantage"? I'm sure if Collingwood were given games at 3 am on a Wed morning, and it rated, people would complain about the "unfair" advantage. Really, this whole debate has long been a non-event. Same for ANZAC day games- you play Melbournes 2 biggest crowd pullers, of course your going to get a sell out. Do you think for one minute that a Crows v Power game is going to have the same level of excitement? You'd probably have a bigger crowd at the Broadmeadows dog track on a mon night....
