Who is going this year?
I am a certain starter, looking forward to it, although Sunday is a bit of a change from the usual Saturdays.

Nup, not this year. There's been too many f*** ups up there for me to bother going back this year.

Good that it's not on the Saturday, but then that might make it worse cos the only really good part was that you could get a bet on at the track and NOT be at Oakbank.

This year, I'm staying home.

Haven't been for 3 years.

The first year we were there, the PA system didn't work at all, then they had a blackout (can't fault them for that of course).

But more recently, the PA was so quiet you couldn't hear the race calls. The TV's for races interstate were 34cm jobbies with no sound on.

Secondly, there was no big screen.

And that year they'd put the price of attendance up. Also, the bookies were so pi$$ed off with the PA they said they weren't coming back. Then they ran out of preferred beer and had to go to the local pubs to buy it.

We used to go to Clare every Easter and the races was high on the agenda for the Saturday. Now we stay home or go elsewhere.

I complained to the secretary of the race club and his response was "become a member and have a say". Yeh, right-o.

I will go back, but now that my kids are keeping me pretty much chained to the house, the self imposed hiatus wont be broken for a few years.

Went last year and it was better than Oakbank. Would have gone again if I wasn't away.
