Postby mal » Fri Mar 30, 2007 8:29 pm

Ace driver SIMON JONES is quickly establishing himself as a superstar driver
Only in his twenties and started driving about 12 months ago
Got about 5 winners in his first 20 drives
Continues to steer home good value winners
Is he the next superstar of the sulky
Port Pirie tonight he steered home GEEVES LEGACY at decent odds.
It is close to the drive of the year so far
JONES has that inate ability to summise a race and act instictively and drives winners
AND HES NEVER ON SHORT PRICED FAVOURITES

Jones has the SNOWY BAKER allround ability.
He commentated SANFL footy on 5rph
He does harness shows on the radio
Has been on Skychannel doing the interdominion reviews
Is the Robert Redford of trotting, woman adore him[especially tote ladies]
Trotting driver extraordinare
Trotting trainer, trained a winner with his first horse[lord larry?]
Very astute punter
Great judge of trotting form.

Will he be the next SUPERMAN OF THE SULKY :?:

This man has the same aura about him that MAL has on a racecourse.

Look Mal - I think we'll both agree that Simo is a great bloke, but most people will also say he has a big mouth that doesn't match his driving ability. I would suggest he'd be better off stearing them and not drifting up the track all the time rather then waving at the crowd in a $1500 race...

SIMMO, YES I LIKE HIM HE'S A GREAT LAD BUT TO BE CLASSED AS A SUPERMAN OF THE SULKY AT THIS STAGE IS RIDICULOUS, YES HE COULD GET THERE BUT JUST LOOK AT HIS DRIVE LAST MONDAY ON THE TROTTER 'MD' HE WAS GOING TO WIN & HE HIT A WHEEL & GALLOPED OUT OF THE RACE SO HE IS A LONG WAY OFF THAT, YES WITH MORE EXPERIENCE HE'LL BE BETTER THAN THE MAJORITY BECAUSE HE DOES HIS FORM & KNOWS THE OPPOSITION BUT I FEAR TOO MANY GRANDSTAND DRIVERS WILL BE/ARE IN HIS EAR
i thought secret groups were a thing of the past, well not on websites anyway

I said " WILL HE BE THE NEXT SUPERMAN OF THE SULKY."

You guys gotta remember he has only been a driver for about 12 months.
He mostly drives horses that are double figured odds
If he drove all my LATE MAL tips he would be a superman.

Has anyone got any stats on his driving record ?
If hes had 10 winners in about 100 drives he has done an extremely good job.

Like I said if JONES drove LATE MALS instead of longshots he
would be recognised even more

Classice example sat nite 31/03/07
JONES has one drive for the night
THE LATE MAL THE SOUNDS wins the race at a $1-90.
JONES was on R9-9 LIGNUM WHO which as at $22 on the TAB
JONES expertly threaded his way thru the field and flashed up
on the fence to get 2nd spot, another great drive.

Yep he gets the 22/1 shot up for 2nd
where as David Harding the best driver in SA drives the $1-90 winner
I mean all HARDING had to do was hold the reins and not fall out the cart to
win on the certainty , whereas JONES on the roughie showed his class.

If JONES drove the fav he would have won.

Hail JONES a genuine star driver of the future =D> =D> =D> =D> =D>

Terry HAYES is also a good driver who gets limited drives, and drives longshots as well

let's just clarify a few things here on Simmo Jones...

I don't think he's the next star of the sulky or a superman or anything like that - but I'll be honest in saying his drives this weekend have been nothing short of excellent.. those drives being

Gerves Legacy - great drive from behind to run a good race - just think the wave 50m out was a bit much for a $1500 race
Lignum Who - may have missed the boat in going 3 wide, but recovered well and took good inside runs when coming wide would have missed a place.
Muchos Gratias - slotted in very well into the spot behind the leader, well spotted and well driven..

I know he has another drive in about 5 mins - but the 3 so far this weekend have run 1st or 2nd and have been good drives..
Simmo has and will continue to be more competitive as he goes along with more experience and what would be good for him is a spell with a good victorian stable (i.e. Alford like Laird has just done or even something like Lang's or Gath's or even Webster) where he can learn some more from the best and hopefully get some more drives...

What he lacks in horsemanship he makes up with precise tactical expertise.
