why multiples pay less

Postby bayman » Mon Apr 16, 2007 10:02 pm

i think generally multiples pay less than you would expect or should get 90 % of the time i have a theory & with flexi betting i think it'll get worse

multiples in the 70's & 80's generally seemed (from memory) to pay better then than they do now

my theorey is because of the higher wages compared to back then

lets say 20 years ago & you worked out a multiple & it cost $40.00, 20 years ago it was a pretty fair chunk out of the pay packet & most wouldn't do it, where as now its not that much damage out of the pay packet & a lot more do that type of multis (or even for numerous units) these days that did it then & with the advent of flexi betting i think it'll get worse (div wise)

it will probably be better just betting win & or place in the near future then all you have to do is worry about one aniMAL instead of many
i thought secret groups were a thing of the past, well not on websites anyway

interesting....Punitab pools are so small though so that makes a huge difference....cant get a trifecta paying $4k if there is only $3k int he pool!!!

20% takeaway by the TAB...has it always been this much?

BAYMAN.. 90% of the time????? What r u on tonight???? U r Obviously to Greedy.
AS we all Know, Dividends r derived by the number of winning units so unless u Know what everyone else is thinking, its impossible to determine a dividend that u should expect to get. Punters generally multiply the win odds of the multi legs (be it Doubles, trebles or Quaddies) to work out what the dividend should at least pay. When it pays more, punters say "well so it should" but when it pays less they say " It payed UNDERS and they got ripped off". 90%.....C'mon Bayman get real!
Some times u percieve to get unders Bcos some of the winners end up paying a lot more than u would think they would B4 u put the multi on so when u multiply the odds up, it comes to a lot higher figure than u would have expected in the 1st place.
I do mainly Quaddies as well as a few trebles and have had some poor dividends over the years in relation to going all up but have also had some incredibly HUGE dividends as well.
Tip..... Keep away from Doubles (Pools r to small) and load up on Quaddies (Especially when they r Jackpots).

The thing i dont get is why some trebles/doubles pay massive unders ..... guys takes big units and bet against themselves

Adelaide trots/dogs treble/double gets murdered every week by blokes in the know obviously taking multiple units ...why not take an allup ??? win price may go down but most of the time the adelaide trots/dogs treble pays poorly and quite often less than allup(i think Mal, Dutchy, mt79 bayman and scd may have something to do with this!!) ... this doesnt happen at all codes / meetings but especially adelaide trots / dogs

These guys are obviously good form students and astute punters but at times you can outsmart yourself ... dont get me wrong i have done this myself many times .... taking doubles and trebles for multiple units in small pools and kicked myself !!

Trots and Dog Tbles/Dble Pools r generally small and a large % of money invested is by smart punters that know there form well, where as in the gallops, they have Big pools, Big fields and a Higher % of MUG Money invested.

as mentioned the treble and double pools for the local trots and dogs are relatively small and therefore the divvies probably dont pay as much as they should given many astute punters have $$$$$ units going on them.

in a preview i did for gawler last week or 2 weeks ago i suggested to take the treble legs in an all up bet. the treble paid $2 and the same all up paid $3.50. not massive overs but it all adds up.

i also have a theory in that in the treble if the first leg is an odds on fav and looks the winner, but the last two legs are a little more open then it is sometimes better to take the daily double, and ive seen it a few times that the double pays more then the treble!!!!!
