Veteran’s Races

Veteran’s Races for Greyhounds over 4 years of age at time of nomination will be programmed at Angle Park . This will begin on Monday 9th July on a monthly basis. The races will be run as Free For Alls and carry open grade prizemoney. Greyhounds must have started in the preceding 3 months.

“Best Nominated” Guidelines

The Grader asked for clarity on Best Nominated Greyhound events and whether grade should get preference over form.

In commenting on the issue, he discussed a recent 731m race where a higher greyhound would have normally be given precedent of grade 5 greyhounds with superior form under his current practice.

The panel supported the Grader using both form and grade when determining his selections. As always there may be many parameters that will affect his selections

Consecutive Days Racing Policy

The Panel recommended the following policy:

‘Where the Grader has a greyhound nominated for both Monday and Sunday and he sees that it is likely to get a reserve spot on the Monday and a start on the Sunday; he will attempt to call the trainer and get his preference. If the trainer can’t be contacted or hasn’t made any notes on the nomination form, the Graded will give the greyhound the Sunday start and not put it in as a reserve on Monday. The greyhound won’t be drawn into both meetings. This will apply to any other times that fields are drawn out of order.”

This has been approved by the GRSA Board.

Un-Raced Maiden Qualification

The Panel recommended following policy:

“When grading an Open Maiden, an un-raced greyhound should be given preference over a greyhound with “poor form”. This is only where the Grader goes off the Order of Preference when selecting the field. Should there be more un-raced greyhounds nominated than positions available a random ballot will be used.”

all dogs in open maidens have poor form, because generally they have had 20 starts for 2 placings

This has been approved by the GRSA Board.

this one is for MAL, dont hurry down to the bar for lunch, you have to stay to watch the

ANGLE PARK QUALIFYING TRIALS

Trials follow the last race of the day.
Dates: Wednesday 4th July
Wednesday 1st August
Wednesday 5th September

(Graduation and Graded trials only, does not include Maiden heats)
Nominations close with GRSA at 4.00pm on the Tuesday prior.

KULPARA CUP CONDITIONS

Trainers please note that the conditions for the Kulpara Cup require greyhounds to have participated twice during the current year (i.e March 2007 to October 12th.when the Cup heats are run).

PORT PIRIE NEWS

TRAVEL REBATE

The Port Pirie Greyhound Club will no longer be paying the $15 travel rebate as from the July 18th meeting. It was decided to use that money for feature races at our TAB meetings.
