------------------------------
There has been a cordon of posts made on the relativity of over-racing dogs
Some agree its too much, some are unsure , others say its OK
Here are the stats [fairly accurate] on the AP 21/6 meeting for the 11 races
GRADE.......LAST RUN -7 DAYS.........ONE WEEK OFF +
GRADE5..............4.................................4
GRADUATION.......5.................................3
GRADE4..............3.................................5
GRADE5...............4................................4
OPEN600M...........3................................5
MIXED 3/4............4................................4
MIXED 1/2/3.........1................................7
GRADE4................2................................6
grade5 non penalty..8...............................0
GRADE5.................6...............................2
GARDE5.................3...............................5
88 DOGS
43 ARE RACING WITH -7 DAYS
45 ARE RACING WITH 7+ DAYS
Something I have noticed and shows up Thursday night
The best race the grade 1/2/3 has 7 dogs who have had 7+ days off
The worst race the G5 non penalty has 0 dogs with 7+ days off
QUESTION
Is it a coincidence the best dogs in the higher grades are not over-raced ?
WHEELER DOGS
---------------
Trainers Lisa Rasmussen and Shaun Matcott do the wheeler dealer production line here.
RAS has 10 dogs and 7 running with less than 7 days off
MAT has 12 dogs and 8 running with less than 7days off
Wheeler has 15 dogs running
Between them thats 7 dogs who have had one week + off
After further investigation 5 of the 7 are not Wheeler dogs !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
They are
WARRIOR JET
WITH DIGNITY
BARON ALLEN
MISS GABBY
CHIEF BRAVEHEART
all are good performers as well, some making higher grades.
DEDUCTION
-----------
When RAS + MAT train for WHEELER they must train these dogs as is.[as much as]
When RAS + MAT train for other owners they are trained more sparingly.
We see a trend perhaps, its not the trainers its the owners.
COLLINS + ROONEY I am sure in saying were also instructed to train as Wheeler asks ?
EXCEPTIONS TO THE OVER-RACE RULE
-------------------------------------
Exceptional trainer Peter Jovanovic gets some of his dogs to race -7 days
He can get away with it because he checks his dogs thoroughly and is
one of the very best in detecting if a dog is sore.
Some others are good as well , HOCKLEY checks them well.
CLUBS RESPONSIBLE ?
--------------------
There was a time when dogs would race like this
race 3 weeks in a row, once a week
have 2 weeks off
= 3 runs in a month
Thats the way the several old timers would race a dog
And coincidently we had better dogs back then [pre 1990]
BEAT THE GRADER
When clubs introduced beat the grader it encouraged trainers to race
mondays and thursdays to win 2 grade 5s in a week.
How absurd is that
Just make it beat the grader the following week 7 days away.
PREVIEW
--------
Chatter
R4-9 ROCK COOL DADDY [rasmussen] a victorian dog who has been
reserve monday night and thursday night, bit unfair as still has not raced in SA
R5-6 COLOUR ME HAPPY

R7-4 SKULL MURPHY
back in town after a close 2nd in the QLD DERBY heats last week
lets watch the new champ in action
BEST BETS
---------
R3-4 RUTLAND REASON [T MURRAY]
None of this beat the grader for this A grader trainer
It won last thursday had 7 days off [as Troy does 95% of the time approx.]
Going from g5 to g4 which can be a concern
But will be going from a g4 to a g3 next start

WIN

good luck on the punt
