Thornton is trying to suck you into betting on something he thinks is unlikely. And if you don't fall for it the idea is you can't get much out of the right result. The other thing is you don't know if someone put a big wad on something and he might be trying to encourage betting on other margins to reduce his liability if it goes wrong.
