El Segundo is Centrebet’s $4.00 favourite to end his Flemington drought and win Saturday’s star-studded Group 1 Turnbull Stakes over 2000m!
Problem galloper Haradasun, who El Segundo pipped in the Dato Tan Chin Nam Stakes at Moonee Valley, is next in betting at $5.00, with WA star Marasco, who will race in blinkers for the first time, quoted at $6.00. The much-improved SA mare Devil Moon is $8.50, while brilliant mare Eskimo Queen is very backable at $11.00, despite a luckless fourth in the Underwood at Caulfield.
“It’s a Cox Plate entrée minus Miss Finland,” Centrebet’s Neil Evans said. “There’ll be money for a few, but I expect Eskimo Queen to be very well supported. She would have nearly won the Underwood with a clear run, and she gets a good weight pull on the top-liners.”
Evans said Eskimo Queen had been well backed to win the Caulfield Cup, including bets of $10,000.00 and $5,000.00 at $6.00! She’s now the $5.00 favourite ahead of JRA Cup winner Maldivian ($7.00)!
“The Turnbull will be a great pointer for Haradasun. He’s been backed from $7.50 into $6.50 in the Cox Plate behind Miss Finland ($2.80) and El Segundo ($5.00) and he really needs to fire here. But I doubt he can jump from gate 15 and hold off this field.” Efficient - $11.00 in the Turnbull – has also been well backed in the Cox Plate, firming from $13.00 to $10.00, and the Melbourne Cup ($7.00 to $6.00), including one bet of $10,000.00 at $7.00!
