A few reasons why there were no stayers' races last night.
Most of the country Vic tracks hold heats and finals, and if there's a lot of heat noms, no room for a longer race. What's more, there's few Vic country tracks that cater for 700+m.
Majority of Vic country tracks filled by Vic country backyard trainers that have trouble training a creeper to grow up a wall, let alone a stayer.
Queensland has about 4 stayers????? (But damn they good)
Tasmania...do they have any stayers??? Land of the Vic sprinter giveaway.
Richmond.....Very hesitant to run distant races...enough fighters go around in the shorter races...the longer the trip, the more chance of something having a chew.
Angle Park....can't fill a open on Thursday night, shame though, cos some of the best stayer trainers are right here in SA.
There's a couple of premier stayer races coming up in the next couple of weeks, so anything with any ability will be getting ready to travel.
Troy Murray is over in WA for the invitational..Paul Barry going over with Token Ned.
So Busy, the next best stayer here won well over 515 last night. (Now that's what a real greyhound should be able to do..mix the distances).
Give it time, there will be more stayers emerging, as breeders shake off the brainwashing. It's taken a few years for the outcross syndrome to subside...next step is to get breeders to steer away from the short course sires, and start breeding some dogs with a bit of guts.
GO THE STAYERS!!!!!!!!!!
