Re: 2024 Melbourne Cup Competition

Postby PatowalongaPirate » Fri Jan 10, 2025 4:16 pm

The 2024 Melbourne Cup winning trainers are reportedly yet to receive their prize money due to an administrative error.

Training partners John Symons and Sheila Laxon were owed $464,000 as their share of the $4.4 million won when Knight's Choice stormed home to clinch the iconic two-mile Flemington feature on the first Tuesday in November.

Racing Victoria processed the payments last month and winning jockey Robbie Dolan as well as the horse's owners did receive their share.

But, according to a News Corp report, the money owed to the winning trainers never landed in their account.

It is alleged the payment accidentally went to a different bank account which the pair no longer use or have access to.

The trainers have engaged lawyers in an effort to rectify the matter.
