Melbourne Cup (Dogs)

I'm surprised that there's been no discussion of the winner turning it's head/fighting/failing to persue i the big race!
Darren McDonald would've been embarrassed to accept the cup surely?
Who heard the post-race interviews?
I couldn't hear it at the Lockleys....

COPIED FROM ANOTHER FORUM

What an interesting nite it was at Sandown Park Greyhounds tonite. It started off as a dirty nite for the Thompson kennel even before racing started. Here is part of the stewards report from race 2.
Race 2 GOOD LUCK HUCCA HT2
Type: Grade 5 Heat Distance : 515 Metres Time: 07:24PM
Stewards issued a warning to Mr.J.Thompson (the trainer of Mandingo) for failing to apply for a alteration of endorsement at kennelling.

The fun continued in race 8, the Melbourne Cup Final. Here ispart of the stewards report from race 8.
Surgeon veered in and marred the running of Hanify's Impact in the home straight.
Surgeon was vetted following the event it was reported that the greyhound sustained a left wrist injury, a 7 day stand down period was imposed.
Acting under GAR 69(1)(a) stewards charged Surgeon with marring and suspended the greyhound for 28 days at Sandown Park and directed that the greyhound perform a STAT, pursuant to GAR 69(2)(a)before any future nomination will be accepted.

But wait, there's more... Also from race 8.
Stewards reminded licensed person Miss.S.Hood of her responsibilities regarding her comments behind the boxes at the conclusion of the event. Stewards issued a warning to Trainer J Thompson regarding his comments and conduct behind the boxes at the conclusion of the event.

Not finished yet, still more part of stewards report from race 9.
Proven Chayse veered out and marred the running of Gable Express approaching the home turn.
Proven Chayse was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained a right wrist injury, a 7 day stand down period was imposed.
Acting under GAR 69(1)(a) stewards charged Proven Chayse with marring and suspended the greyhound for 28 days at Sandown Park and directed the greyhound perform a STAT, pursuant to GAR 69(2)(a)before any future nomination will be accepted.
(Proven Chayse is trained by Jason Thompson)

Interesting, but wait, there's still more...
Sandown Park - 27 Nov 2008, Thursday
Meeting Comments
After taking evidence from Steward H. Montgomery and trainers J Thompson and D. McDonald regarding alleged incidents in the kennel block area at the conclusion of races 8 and 9, stewards ajourned an inquiry into the matter to a date to be fixed.
Ha Ha Ha. I wonder if there was any trainers licences thrown at the stewards tonite? They sure had their hands full tonite.

Pity Mike Tyson wasn't there. He could have bitten of someone's ear and got away with it. Ha Ha Ha

Now to top all that off.

A female steward is seeking further advice after being shouldered/elbowed by J.Thompson in the kennel block. (ALLEDGEDLY)
Both J.Thompson and Seona Hood verbally abused Dmac. (ALLEDGEDLY)
Seona Hood SPAT at or on Dmac. (ALLEDGEDLY)
Dmac's car has been keyed by the time he got to his car after the races. (ALLEDGEDLY)

There are alot of spectators that have made formal complaints to GRV as well as some interstate trainers also writing letters at their disgust of how J.Thompson and S.Hood acted and reacted both behind the boxes after the Cup was run as well as at the presentation dias and also in the kennel block after the cup. Also at the boxes before and after race 9 as well as back in the kennel block. (ALLEDGEDLY)

Seems Mr J.Thompson and Ms S.Hood have stepped over the fine line and their actions were nothing short of DISGUSTING and were very sore losers. The industry does not need this from one of their top trainers. (ALLEDGEDLY)

These 2 need to be sent on a very long holiday. BUT i doubt it will happen.

Isaw the race and the commentators indicated something ugly happened after the race but wouldnt expand....personally I couldnt see the issue as Surgeon would have won by 3-4 lengths if it didnt fight with the other dog....at the end of the day the best dog won the race

it would appear that mr thompson and ms hood are dickheads would it not?, as dutchy said if surgeon had not gone at the other dog it would have won comfortably
