Prize money varies from $1700ish on a Thursday Night at Angle Park depending on the grade to $500ish at Gawler to even less at Pirie and Strath.
going 50/50 on place prize money you wont get much return if any at all as even most 50/50 trainers will now take the first $50-$100 of prize money then split 50/50
Now this all depends on the quality of the dog. If its a decent dog then you will find a trainer will go straight 50/50 on all prize money as the trainer knows he has a dog good enough to recoup regular prize money. Now on the other hand if its a dog that will struggle on a consistent basis to run in the top 3 not only will you struggle to find any trainer to go 50/50 i also think you may struggle to keep it in their kennel for any decent length of time on a 50/50 deal, unless your paying a weekly training fee then im sure the a trainer will be more than happy to keep it as long as you want to keep paying the fees.

Ryles - when looking at a young litter of pups to choose a grey hound from, what should you look out for? i've heard steer clear of 'blue pups', what does this mean?
