Melbourne Trip Comes to a Close.......

The $100 to $1,000 or BUST...........Current Bank......$3.50 (This will need to be a better come-back than Lazarus)

The gambling trip has continued.

Last Friday...was a trip to the Charlton Trots (250km out of Melb), and a speedy trip back to Moonee Valley that night. In what was a disaster of a day, I went home with empty pockets, and no petrol left in the tank.

Saturday day...Moonee Valley Races. A good size crowd of about 5,000, with the highlight being the win of Dandy Kid, taking the track record for the most wins.

Saturday night...A quick trip up the Free way, saw me at the Bendigo Trots. One bookmaker, betting on the local Trots only. No betting service on Globe Derby, Albion Park or Newcastle. nothing on the Meadows or Wentworth park Greyhounds either. All those races are on the TV screens, but you have no idea of betting fluctuations. The best you get are the Sky Channel updates.

Sunday day...A good country meeting of Races at Ballarat. about 1,500 on a very picturesque track. Three bookies

Monday day....Maryborough Trots. The same sixty people from last week were there again.

Tuesday...All day...A DAY OFF> TOO tired to go anywhere......plus I was giving back my winnings way too fast.

Wednesday day...Moonee Valley Races. About 1,500 on course. Five Bookmakers in attendance. The highlight of the day was the winn of Makybe Diva's brother in Sydney...MUSCAT. A big drifter in the ring, from evens out to 3/1....but I think half the crowd on course backed him, as a huge roar went up when he careered away for a big win.

Thursday...Another day off. The people I am staying with think I am quite strange. They may be right. Plus they are worried about the number of Km's I am racking up in their car. I treated them to a night out, and outlined my last two days in this city. That will be......

Friday day...Moonee Valley Trots. Will anybody actually go??
Friday night...Kilmore Trots....where each race is worth more than those at the Valley.
Saturday day...Caulfield Races, where the MEMSIE Stakes is on.
Saturday Night,,,Geelong Trots.....my last meeting this trip.

SUNDAY....fly back to Adelaide.

SUMMARY........Melbourne has its own radio station, which is nothing short of fantastic. On Saturday, they have a two hour show on their local meeting only. It is brilliant. On Sunday morning they have a two hour review of that meeting, which is great listening. We need our own radio station. We once had it>

The Moonee Valley Tabaret, is a punters PARADISE. More tables, screens, formguides, food, beer and good service than is necessary. It is heaven.

Having won a small fortune on the first two days in Melbourne, I spent the next ten days giving it all back. Ah well, same old same old problem. Still, I have four more meetings left to make a killing.

Speaking of killings, I have to improve this $1,000 dream. (I see MAL is doing quite well with his softly, softly approach) Can $3.50 be turned into $1,000 ?? Of course it can...

Tonights bet is....$3.50 a place ALL UP on two horses.
Gloucester Park Race-4...No.1...Charlie Armahurst, and Race-5...No.2...Lord Vermax.
Surely things can only get better.....

Til next week, Good Luck, and happy punting.
Trying to find the Holy Grail......
