DRIVING TACTICS
We had an unusual race last week
Safe Ridge was expected to lead and hand up as per usual
The form enthusiaists were all expecting Ima Party Girl to be allowed the front
Safe Ridge has been handing up in about all recent races
However
Last week Safe Ridge kicked up and led going fast early sections, collapsed and finished and only beaten a length, the length of the staright !
My thoughts at the time were grr#^&#$rrrrrrrrr
But its every drivers perogative to drive in any manner
This, as we all know happens at the red hots
Sometimes it helps sometimes it dosent when punting, in my experiences it all evens out
However
Interesting conversation on the prestigious 5RPH trotting show on Thursday
Steward Steve was interviewed and quizzed over the driving tactic on Safe Ridge
The connections or whoever informed Sherriff Steve said that Safe Ridge would be leading etc
One of the 5RPH experts asked should the public be aware of the change of tactics ?
The Sherrif replied if it drew 1 or 2 it would have been told to the course announcer
Fair enough
QUESTIONS
Should any pacer drawn any front barriers with a diff driving tactic be made public?[I say YES]
Should it be up to the Course announcer to inform the public?
Is just b4 the race starts too late and to inopportune to inform punters ?
Is it too late for a racecaller to advise the public as the race starts ?
I think the public deserve to know asap [even b4 the meeting starts]
Especially for the treble/quaddie puntas
