port pirie update

Postby bayman » Thu Nov 23, 2006 9:15 pm

after reading ag's concern about port pirie's future, i've looked into it & apparently there was a meeting of trainers, drivers owners & 'friends' the other night 'hosted' by mark carey & the outcome was that for the next 2 meetings there will be an increase in prizemoney ($1,000.00) over the entire program for both nights plus ther novelties for the kids ,ie face painting etc

so at least they're trying something

STILL KICKING .... just still in shock that I fell for the 'leak' crap again.... why do I get conned every time....

Look great initiative by the club..... I loved me weekends at Pirie.... trots Fri night... party Sat night.... but look seriously this is a short term fix.... they simply dont have the numbers or qaulity of horse to be competative...or put on a worthwhile meeting anymore.... the TAB turnover is poor.... poor crowds
i commend them for trying... and I hope the southern trainers support the meetings and the crowds get there.... but with Victor firing up I think things up there look pretty bleak.....

Yes it might just become a sat arvo non-tab meet as PA did for a while and Kadina.... with 6 or 7 in a race... and only 5 races
A nothern track is needed but if the numbers arent there and the southern trainers dont support it... then there is no choice... Gawler might become our most northern TAB track soon....

gawler soon to be no more !!! as the northern expressway is planned to go through it, so unless they relocate they'll be no more gawler, perhaps they could go back to the dog track & race there again ?

What about Port a gutter? is there still a track there ?

MT Gambier, fair dinkum, you might as well include Stawell as a southern track.

weigall is used for baseball & soccer & the trotting track at angle park doesn't exist anymore & angle park & weigall is not a track they race at anyway otherwise we could all say everybody's training track wherever they are located ie cavallaro north & why not say marion oval south ? c'mon keep it to race tracks
