82 CANT WINS

VANILLA SQUARE was a late scratching in my CAN WINS

Did we see the drive on Paul Cavawizard on VIA TRASTEVERE
Genuis to hand up to HANNANS
then gets trapped 5th on the pegs when HANNANS hands up[good thinking but ...]
then extracated VT of the pegs
goes to the front and buries the 2nd fav HANNANS who was behind the leader that stopped

BIG race TOMorrow night
COUNT DE CHRISTO V DEE DEES DREAM

I hope Terry Hayes is at Norwood TOMorrow so he can part with his $$$ by backing his WA 8) with me
Even without Johnny Wynne we can beat the bloods by at least 5-6 goals

WORST STEWARDS PENALTY OF ALL TIME ?
_____________________________________

Steve Mowday has been suspended for 6 weeks for his drive Friday night at GDP
Mowday was on the 2nd fav HANNANS the favourite was VIA TRASTERVERE driven by Paul Cavawizard
VT led early and then handed up to HANNANS
At this stage I was still confident VT would sprint lane and beat HANNANS
With about a lap to go HANNANS hands up[this puts VT 3 back the pegs, not a bad tactic]
At this point Mowday has effectively put VT out of the race 5th on the pegs
AT THIS POINT OF TIME MOWDAY HAS DRIVEN OK TO PUT VT OUT OF THE RACE [ok tactic]
HOWEVER
It was a sMALl field and somehow Paul Cavawizard extricated VT off the pegs into the running line
At this point VT now has a chance to beat HANNANS
HANNANS can still sprint lane and win the race as well
AT THIS POINT OF TIME MOWDAY HAS DRIVEN OK
THEN
Paul Cavawizard produced a brilliant tactic, he zooms off around the field to hit the front b4 the final turn.
He now is leading on the turn and now HANNANS is relegated to 3 back the pegs
VT wins the race
HANNANS gets shuffled back and runs on fairly for 3rd

Paul Cavawizards very good drive was why VT won
Steve Mowdays drive was made to look bad due to the result
The stewards have over reacted ?

ANOTHER SCENARIO
When Mowday handed up he puts VT 3 back the pegs
IF
VT gets locked in and HANNANS sprint lanes to win the race WHAT DO THE STEWARDS DO ????

IF
The stewards have made Mowday the scapegoat and are going to be tougher in all races from now on, I can accept partially the rationality behind this absurd suspension
BUT
If they continue to pick out needle in the haystack drives only Mowday should rightly be upset
AND
If they continue to overlook50/1- 100/1 chances kicking up in the death for a lap to keep out favoured runners 3 wide on a limb .... [and the 50- 100/1 shows finish tailed off sometimes]

SUMMARY
Im not a mate of Mowdays, Im just defending a guy over a 'the thought that counts drive'

i agree with you mal as at the time i thought mowdays tactical decision to hand up was a very smart move which was to try & eliminate his main danger however the gap opened behind him & the eventual winner got off & won easily & while it didn't come off for him i don't understand how he can get time for using his 'nouse' which he hadn't before so next time he'll be 'handle bars down' going flat out

disclaimer, i don't know s.mowday so i'm not sticking up for anyone i know i'm just giving my opinion

Not 1 person I have talked to agrees with Mowdays suspension.
As I have said this is one of the most stunning decisions Ive seen on a race course
Once again I re-iterate what if HANNANS won the race, what happens?

it was sad to see the joe buttigieg trained 2yo filly 'bella melissa' break a leg (foreleg) shortly after the winning post in tonights race, poor joe is having some bad luck with his team in recent times but as they say ''that's racing''

there is nothing wrong with handing up when he did to put main danger further back on the pegs the worse part of his decision was there was not a horse in the field worthy of following thats the point there was only two possible winning chances him and the fav the others you would not feed but they should have given him longer to keep the clown off the track longer he ruins more races than any other driver in the history of the sport.

Ive been following the local trots seriously for the last 3 years.
Ive seen some questionable drives and some very poor drives.
They have all gone thru without penalties by the stewards.
I cant recall too many suspensions at all.
At least they have been consistent.
To pick Mowdays drive from a lucky dip and penalise him was an about face.
SCAPEGOAT
Have the stewards decided to get tougher ???
Was Mowday the scapegoat suspension ???
