COX PLATE

Postby ryles-kennels » Mon Oct 20, 2008 10:15 am

Just thinking of this weekends COX PLATE.

Is this going to be one of the WEAKEST FIELDS for a Cox Plate for quite some time?

I see Grub said joining with Luxbet would get you $10 about Samantha Miss
Although a weak Cox Plate, IMO still unders at that price...
3yr old fillies don't win this race... especially Sydney fillies...

1st go over more then 1600m
1st go Melbourne way of going
1st go @ the Valley
1st go @ Open WFA racing.

Massive risk this weekend. The form lines through Portillo and Kimilsy didn't stand up in the Thousand Guineas either with them finishing 7th and 8th beaten about 5 lengths.

I will be backing Princess Coup, she looks primed and looks like the seasoned WFA horse in the race with good form.
Port Power has 16 years history at Football Park...

The Port Magpies have 40 years history and the two shall never be confused or combined

The only thing that will beat the coup is mooney valley......

this is a weak field.... especially if Zipping is single figure odds in a cox plate.....

should be a group 2....

Like big Mal at juicy odds.
Ran pretty well in the Caulfield, just battled home the last 200m though.
Set a good tempo up front and woulda been right in the mix if not for the last furlong.
Won twice at track & distance, likes the tight Moonee Valley track & is a frontrunner.
With the rail back in the true position i'd say the winner will come from on the pace & near the rails, just where Maldivian is likely to be. Only query is he's 7th up this campaign, i think. Is there enough left in the tank?
Wouldn't surprise big me if Mal & Kav silenced their critics, sweet redemption after last years debacle in the Caulfield Cup.

Hard to read the formline of Samantha Miss & Princess Coup so i'm going to stay clear of them.

Can't believe Kav decided not to run Whobegotyou in the Cox plate. Said it would be too taxing on the horse. Yet he runs him in a race on the same day, over he same distance & with a bigger weight on his back than he would've had in the cox Plate. Bizarre.
Running him in the Derby is going to be so much more taxing on the horse. And as Kav knows all too well, a lot can happen in racing, might only get one good chance at winning the Cox Plate.

Anyone thinking Samantha Miss in the plate? It's turn of speed four weeks ago in Sydney was something to behold. If it gets let go down the straight (even though the straight is pretty short) I don't think anything will be able to go with it.

I'll be on Samantha Miss. It looks a two horse race with Princess Coup & The Miss to fight it out. Only other real threat might be Alamosa.

Alamosa seemed have plenty in reserve in the Toorak and looks like the best value bet in a pathetic field with no WFA horses.

race 2 - 7 looks the goods here for OLI - $2.70 fixed odds - CHARGE - this just wins and wins EASILY

4 - 13 at $8.50 fixed odds looks great ew value
2 $31 has a show at odds

7 - 15 - $16 looks a nice e.w prospect
2 - $5.50 about the right odds, worth a small go
13 - $6 this looks a tad of value

8 - COX PLATE
like the 7 ALAMOSA HERE at $12 fixed odds
9-13-3 appear the main chances to be winning and figuring prominently in first 4's

9 - 12 - at $17 this price is ridiculous may run at longer on the tote but e.w all day after collecting the first 4 on the cox plate

10

7 - $14 -
9 - $7.50
11 - $23

7,9 appear value while the 11 is a roughy who may show up at nice odds
