Aust. Vs Sth Africa - Test Series

Postby Browny25 » Tue Dec 09, 2008 1:56 pm

Current Odds 1st Test-

Aust - $2.00

S Af - $3.25

Draw - $3.50

Surely the South Africans are good money at that? Australia played a woeful NZ side which consisted of 1 batsmen and a spinner. This South African team has so much more depth and I think will push the Aussies. Although their history isnt that good in Aus, only winning 1 test in the last 4 series here! And remember this time there is no Warne and McGrath who used to destroy SA!

I actually quite like the draw at $4.25

If odds werent an issue Id back Kallis or ponting most runs series as they are clearly the two class batsmen- if I were looking for odds id think about mckenzie or M Clarke.

Wickets- S Clarke has a great record against SA. Could be decent value too- Johnson/Lee/Steyn will all be shorter IMO

I like Hussey for most runs (Aust). First test at the WACA should ton up. Krejza could be value for most wickets if he plays in the first test. You'd hope he'd bag a few at the SCG.

I agree, Krezja for most wickets in the series is a good bet.

Smith for most runs.

Don't mind Steyn for most wickets in the series.
If he can stay fit he will go very close to winning that. After watching there last few test series have learnt that he is there specialist at bowling out the tail, so he should pick up plenty of cheap wickets.
I also think the WACA will suit him for the bounce and pace and the MCG will suit if overcast, he can swing and seam the bowl like no other bowler in the world at the moment IMHO

Done even better now on betfair, after taking 17s I laid off at 10s.
I now have 1 dollar on him to be the leading wicket taker at 160/1 now!
I love betfair! :D

put this on last night when out -

Sth Africa Win
1 Unit @ $4.50

also layed the draw for $7- as that wont happen from here

so scenario is this -

AUS -4.47 Units
SA +6.57 Units
Draw -0.31 Units

Don't know if anyone else heard it but on Friday morning on the Tab Radio breakfast show Brenton Yates suggested and asked other hosts and cricket experts if South Africa could win. He thought the $7 friday b4 play started was tempting.
Like he said without the Johnson miracle spell late on day two SA would of been in box seat and suggested it could be once in a lifetime spell of bowling and if SA could get lead under 100 they still had a hope.
He got told Aus win was only option.
