Shep Race 6

5 GARDAM PRINCE $1.19
8 BIG BOY COOLIE $18.35
4 CROWS CRUISER $22.65
1 KID APACHE $27.96
2 OUTBACK CITY $64.96
3 SPANISH MAID $150.91

119-First 4

Gardam Prince is quite freakish when comparing against this field. Should cross this lot easily and run away a 5l winner.

Leave out #3 in First 4 combinations.

Bet

5-4,8-1,4,8-1,2,4,8 100% = $8
5-4,8-4,8-1 100% = $2

On fire Moppy.... Exacta pays $23.40 = $46.80 collect....

Annoyingly for you, Quinella pays $27.50 which for the same outlay would've been $110 collect...

7 TASH $11.40
6 BAGS EMPTY $12.67
1 TIME MATTERS $15.64
2 RAGING LULU $29.43
10 EVENT HORIZON $32.70

290-EXACTA

Hard to seperate a few here for the placings. With that in mind we have to bet appropiately if we are just spending $10

WIN #3 $6
Exacta #3,5-3,5,6,7,8 X 50c = $4

And this is why we handicap races. Almost in exact order for the First 4. And Kid Freddie added the huge value into the exotics.

For the $10 punters

TODAY
OUT $30
IN $56.45

Shep Race 7

7 ELITE LOMBO $3.23
6 COOL HAMMER $3.98
1 PHILS PHANTOM $6.07
4 WRITE TO MIKE $11.42
5 DIAL TRIPLE ZERO $12.69
3 ANOTHER NIKKI $19.34
10 DARK DERRINGER $29.48
2 MISS MINI DOZER $44.94

323-QUIN

An easy race on paper, but suitability wisde #1 is drawn to lead for a long way, #6 gets a horrible draw due to pace on inside and won't find room on the outside as Elite Lombo will be mustering soon after the start for a swoop. May find Cool Hammer gets a slight check, enough to knock its momentum so it doesn't get a clear passage in the race.

#4 Wite to Mike also can begin and begins straight too, so another obstacle. That is why I like the swooper #7 Elite Lombo who doesn't have to lead here to win.

BET:

Top 4 Box Quin = $6
#7 WIN $4

It all comes down to reading the market when playing specific exotics. If you don't have the time to read the market or don't know how, then just look at it from a purely punting perspective.

If your going to spend $12 a race in exotics. Do you
A) Play Quin X 2
B) Play Exacta X 1

In my data recordings the Exacta DOES pay more than double the Quinella on average. This average is taken up by the amount of favourites that lose and the amount of 2nd favoured runners who finish second.

When you have several runners in your boxing exotics over-time the favourites dont always salute and you are better off spending Exacta X 1 than Quinella X 1.

I suggested the Quinella, because of the rating the race threw up. Which correlates to the amount of money spent and combinations taken and the S/R of the points system.

Because you can cover more combinations with Quinella's than you can with Exacta's, and in an OPEN race. That is precisly what you want to do.

good point oaksy

its all abut reading the race and the ratings that are thrown up

then if you take exactas, should you also consider a tri in order for some units?

wiped out in race 5

the roving tri of 6,7 wouldve been handy here

along with the other combos for exactas the saver of f/6-7 pays nicely too

perhaps we should undertake a poll to find out what people would be prepared to spend on minimum per greyhound race

now with Oaksys sensational selections id say $20 would be a reasonable minimum

It comes down to your own personal preferance and how much you are willing to part with each race. If your going to swap and change your bet preferance each race then you need a good reason as to why. And that reason can be found in a number of things.

If your going to cover all exotic options. Then you need a good bank to support you through the run of outs, but also a good bank so that your still only spending a small % of your bank and not having to fork out 10% to cover the combinations you want.

If we are hitting some races harder than others in terms of turnover, then you need to understand why.

This is where punting syndicates come alive, I think, as people can be apart of bets they couldn't normally undertake.
