I know they do it... so easy to do.... I cant see why you are all taking PD's side... I think he bets crap percentages and is a coward.... he belongs in the auditorium with the other cronies....

I sit with my laptop (on betfair) in the auditorium regularly and can tell you those bookies are NOT competative (neither id PD) and they wonder why they get no busuiness   .... THANK GOD 4 BETFAIR.....
BL are $1-00-2  thats not even $1-01

G this is not about pd's markets etc this is about the childish vindictive 'prank' from a so-called mature man in 'the bad SAMmaritan & i defy anyone to say it was otherwise (& if they do they are as childish)
i thought secret groups were a thing of the past, well not on websites anyway

If PD put up 115% [TAB%]
And let punters on for whatever they wanted,
in 10 years he would lose about Million dollars.

G
If you were a bookie at GDP betting 115% you would quit after 3 months
after you lost your $100,000 cash and your bond money to be a bookie.
The SAMaritan would give you a hiding
SAMaritan is without doubt in the top echelon of punters at the trots

MAL you're kidding aren't you about the SAMaritan being amongst the top echelon of punters.
His actual Trotting knowledge is just average at best but through his business hes able to mix with trainers etc and gain some insight into whats going on.

As for the bloke you always stick up for,PD, no one is asking for him to bet 115% just anywhere under the 150%+ that he serves up would be fine.

G i think MAL must be pretty close to the mark with the SAMaritan. Don't think top echelon is the right wording BUT think he would be very hard to beat over period of time. Defently NOT a Mug.
G i'm sure you'd know trainers and drivers could be no help at all some would struggle to know their own horse let alone how other horses line up.

What your All forgetting PD there to win for the day. No different to anyone else.
Sure all you blokes who go on about him his markets and how good betfair is don't get involved in everyrace. But he must bet on every race!!!
All you betfair boys Put a 125% market up on everyrace every meeting with people able to take odds to 2k and see how easy is it is.
Easy to lay one or two horses for a day when you choose!!!! Isn't that what PD is trying to do??
But even easier to sit here a snipe!!!!

I concede that you've made a couple of fair points there Centreman mainly that we can pick the eyes out of a meeting and dont have to participate in every race.
I wasnt having a go at the SAMaritan, hes a good bloke, more the fact that I cant imagine him studying and clocking sectionals etc. More reliant on mail.

When Bookies hold a bet they pay approximately 1% tax on the amounts held
For example if a bookie holds
$100 win $100 place
= $200
= $2 turnover tax

Also don't forget that framing a (say) 120% market assumes that you (the bookie) are able to lay the entire field. Haven't been to GDP for many years, but can't imagine they get big crowds there. Would imagine that bookmaking at many mid week meets would be like playing russian roulette with three bullets.

Mal hope you got your betfair account topped up??
Look forward to G and AG's globe derby markets over the weekend.
Bout 130 to 135% will be fine boys!!!!!
You should be ok though Mal said he'll only claim you for odds to $1000 not the $2000 which Pd has to.
Look forward to your thoughts on how easy it is or frustrating!!!!
But only small crowd at GDP bout be lot more on computer at home on Bfair so making books on each race should be easy.
GOOD LUCK TO ALL!!!!!

Centreman, Ive never professed to be a bookie and therefore dont have to put up markets etc.
Just remember though if you are a Pie maker, you make pies and if you're a Barman you serve drinks and guess what you do if you're a fisherman - yeah thats right you catch fish.
My point being , if you're a Bookie do your work and put up or shut up re the prices. If its too hard , get out of the game.
