Yep here we go agian.
Just heard that the trainer of Septimus might scratch the horse beacuse the course is "unsafe"
he says its too hard a surface for racing.
well boo hoo.
just because they wouldnt know what a good rating was
we shouldnt have to bow down and water the track to suit them.

take your horse and go home i say.

That's correct SS ... Think the punters are wary in case Septimus is a scratching, that and the fact the Rush has form through Septimus and has Olly on board.

Im putting 5 each way on Bauer and Galloping,
Honalulu and Moatize are my roughies....

So maybe chuck those 4 in a box tri fecta....

and then sit back and enjoy the ride... and then cry when none of the 4 come in

Sportsbet has Yellowstone as a scratching now. And then there were 22. Septimus is a confirmed runner according to his trainer, regardless if the track is firm. Prize Lady in from 151s to 81s - weather could be a factor in shortening a lot of 'wet' runners.

Or oversea's punters ... As of yesterday there was some fair discrepancies between UK odds and ours over here.

Not sure about the form of Septimus now, watched his races on you tube and the St Leger win although it was a big margin they went 12 seconds slower than previous years only six horse field. Every race was a small field and had plenty of room.
Can he cope with 22 horses tomorrow?????

there were 3 horses that were paid up for the final acceptances on saturday & didn't make the final field (yes they got their money back) but should the melbourne cup have emergencies ? with 2 horses out 2 of the other 3 would now be starting & if the topweight does scratch the 3rd horse would get a run as well......i think emergencies/reserves should be included in the field until scratching time on the tuesday morning
i thought secret groups were a thing of the past, well not on websites anyway

I don't think there's a great deal of depth in the Aust runners this year.

I've backed Septimus. I was born in Sept so it's an omen that it'll run my old guernsey number, 15(th) :)

I've got Septimus for the win
Roughie, Newport e/w

Trifecta:

Septimus
Mad Rush
Bauer
Profound Beauty
Barbaricus
Moatize
boxed with Newport second & third

A mate of mind in Dublin just told me that he thinks Allessandro Volta has been sent here to be the pacemaker for Septimus until the "two pole" - 2 furlongs. Looking at Volta's race record with only 9 starts for 2 wins and a third, that would seem to fit? I thought pacemaking was illegal here though so could there possibly be some controversy if that prediction is fulfilled - Volta paces Septimus, Septimus wins and then gets disqualified? Has the makings of an Irish "Fine Cotton" affair!
