Saints at full strength would smash the Hawks. Ross Lyon just wants his team to be at optimal shape come finals. On the flipside, a number of players at the Saints are fighting over positions and I see a team this Saturday with players who are very eager and hungry to prove their worth to the coach. I am very, very tempted to take the Saints for a win, would be even better if I can get them at the spread, which I definitely will take if the bookies are game enough to put it up.

Selwood, Johnson in doubt for CatsArticle from: Font size: Decrease Increase Email article: Email Print article: Print Submit comment: Submit comment Jay Clark

EXCLUSIVE: GEELONG could be in damage control with another two big names in doubt for tonight's clash against Carlton.

It is believed gun onballer Joel Selwood is highly unlikely to play after struggling through a fitness test at Skilled Stadium today, while mercurial forward Steve Johnson is also under an injury cloud.

The news comes on the heels of today's revelations that Saint Sam Fisher and Crow Nathan Bock would definitely miss their matches tomorrow. TAB Sportsbet has suspended betting on all three affected matches at some time today.

It is unknown what Selwood's problem is, but Johnson looked proppy in his return from a hip injury last weekend against Adelaide.

It was his first game back after a month off.

The duo's absence would be a major blow to a Geelong team already reeling from the loss of key backs Matthew Scarlett and Harry Taylor, as well as fellow defender James Kelly, star forward Paul Chapman and ruckman Brad Ottens.

The Cats have taken a cautious approach in the past six weeks and are unlikely to risk any of their most important players one month out from the finals.

A Carlton victory would be a major boost to the Blues’ hopes of playing in September, as they sit in seventh spot, four points above Port Adelaide in eighth.

I had $10 on Hawks @ $9.00 for lowest score. Looking good so far.

Essendon paying $5 to make the 8. I think they will make the 8 they probably won't beat Saints this week but should win their last 2 against Freo and Hawks.

You are kidding.... after their pitiful performance against WC in Perth, they will not beat Freo. And I can't see them beating Hawthorn either..... Port will keep them out....

These are the last 3 rounds for Hawthorn, Port and Essendon:

Hawks
- Adelaide MCG
- Richmond MCG
- Essendon MCG

Power
- Carlton AS
- Lions Gabba
- Norf AS

Ess
- St Kilda ES
- Fremantle Subie
- Hawthorn - MCG

I think Hawks will beat Richmond only, Port will only beat North but think Essendon will beat Freo and Hawthorn.

Ess

- Hawthorn - MCG - most likely lose....

Port for mine.... If anything Hawthorn will make it before Essendon....

Essendon have lost 3 of their past 5, and a draw. The 3 losses were against West Coast, Richmond and Sydney.... They should've won all 3 and be cemented in the top 8.... they don't deserve to make it.

And Port do?

None of them deserve to make it and may as well not bother they will be out week 1 anyway.

I agree... None of them seem like they want to make it either.... and if you listen to Mark Williams I don't think he wants to make it!!
