Aim: Get a piece of the pool
History: best placed finish in a Melb Cup for this average punter is 2 out of three - (in fact, I've never got a trifecta!)
Strategy: Have a few different trifectas and see what happens. Bet today and beat the crowds of tomorrow.

2007: four trifectas all boxed at half a unit. Total cost - 4 @ $12 ea = $48

2,10,12,22
2,4,13,23
5,8,14,24
1,9,11,18

Keep my fingers crossed.

Myself and a few mates have a bit of a Trifecta syndicate every Melb Cup, and have managed to grab it a couple of times ... Every year however I seem to manage 1st, 2nd, 4th and 5th (or thereabouts) on my Box 6 effort without ever jagging all 3.

Funnily enough the only time I managed to grab the Tri in the Cup was the year Jezabeel won it (99 maybe??) and that came courtesy of a Mystery Bet!

LOL I reakon I'm bound to have several of the former tomorrow MT ... Many of the experts this year are pushing the line "Drinking and Betting together don't work" but I disagree - I'm a crap punter either way but under the influence I'm happier to part with the fundage!

BTW .. Many punters got the day off tomorrow and if so where are you heading??

Got a few irons in the fire including a syndicate bet with 11 others @ $30 a head to box 10 horses (still to be finalised)

Also having a trifecta with a mate with probably 4x6x8 including Pop Rock, Maybe Better, Mandela, Yeats, Tawqeet, Art Success, Efficient and On A Jeune

And finally I'll have a few e/w bets on some of the ones above as well

Cheers and good luck all

I agree, it won't win. I'd lay it on Betfair (if I had an account)

My "boxed 5" for the Cup would be:
4 Tawqueet
10 Mahtoum
17 Zabeat
18 Art Success
21 Mandela

I'd work around these for Quin's, Tri's & Pick 4's if having a bet (current finances preclude me from betting tomorrow)

he will coped with the 59 with ease, altho i dont think he is a cert, if he can roll along from the 1200 and get the others under pressure early he will be hard to peg back, but if they do run along and he has to work early he will be the first one beat. he is the best stayer in the race without a doubt, just worried about his pattern of racing. UK/ireland races are run very, very differently. hard to read UK form. was on course last year when distinction won the goodwood cup with ease then came out here to fail in the melb cup. F@#k im confusing myself?!?!?!?

1 yeats, 2 onajeune, 3 dizelle - should all run the trip.
lay of the day - efficient.
