from memory if it won i was going to get or would've got over 4 grand (it was the 3rd leg of a 4 leg allup)
so thats why i'm biased i hate the thing
Sorry to rain on this one, Bayman, but I was one punter at the time not unhappy to see the champ lose (BTW, I think Courage Under Fire is still a fair way in front of Lombo, but grant the youngster has plenty of promise) that night. I had a double going, with CUF and three others in the first leg - one of them was Breeny's Fella, who downed CUF at $76. Had three runners in the second leg, with varying returns of $349, $476 and $1500. The middle one got up for me, for a $6 investment, remains one of my biggest returns ever, and I'm not a big punter by any stretch.
I think Plunge that you may have the weeks wrong on CUF.. He lost his 1st ever race to a $70 rank outsider in Kyema Kid.. the next week in the Vic Cup (I think it was) Breenys Fells cleaned him up and won at good odds again and it was then that the bubble had burst....
A great horse that should have won a really big one (Miracle Mile / Interdom) but never had luck go his way in those races...
scd's right it was kyema kid
Thanks for that fellas, the memory was playing tricks on me there. Quite right!
