INTERDOMURDERMINION

I'm not a happy boy about this Mal - Bayman asked me not to start things.. but I can't help myself...
I backed Flashing Red before the Vic Cup @ $5 = a good price I thought... well not now = done my money...
Basically what happened was S Hunter (trainer) has admitted to giving the horse a couple of saline drips to rehydrate the horse after the float ride over, because of it - the TC02 (bicarb) reading went through the roof.. should the horse have been scratched, yes because he was well over the bicarb limit..

but lets be serious about this... these horses raced Friday - traveled Sat / Sun in 30 degree heat and then raced Wednesday in another state.. How are they meant to recover, because of this the favourite pre post is now out of the series, in what can only be described as a big big mistake on not the trainer, but Harness Racing SA for running the series this way... if they didn't have the money to run the series, then let someone else do it - don't do a half assed job of it - its a bit like Carlton and the board issues they are having at the moment...

HRSA = JOKE (a bigger joke the Joketon and Advertiser prices) and they should NEVER EVER be able to run the interdominion in SA again, the stewards and the industry are a shame and an absolute disgrace :!: :!:

well SCD, its very hard to argue against the points you raised and I agree whole-heartedly with you, especially about the fact that the series is being run over 2 states.

I understand that you cant really tamper with the format - (having said that after this series there will be a complete overhaul and i have been told that they wont be running so many races together in the future)

but if they were going to run it over 2 states then why not make the 2nd leg which was last night, make it either friday night or saturday night and give horses sufficient time to recover.

Obviously the argument that some horses can handle racing that often and others cant may come back up and then if it did I would ask the question "is FLASHING RED a soft cat, that cant handle tough racing?'

I was thinking of going out on saturday night, but im having doubts now, i mean Im not going to see these horses racing at their peak.

How many other horses ran below thier peak last night
And now they gotta butter up again in 3 days time [-o<

Was thier any promotions on course to get the NEW crowd to
come back after the series finishes :?:
Maybe the newer bookies could be enticed to come back on
on a permenant basis :?:
A bookie like Symons perhaps :?:
Maybe Symons could promote the industry by handing out lollies
or chocolates to young kids. because he gave out gifts to adults last night
$2-40 for a $1-25 pop

i would suggest that quite rightfully not every horse ran to their peak last night- but in what race do they?
4 horses broke the old track record in the first heat last night including winforu from the tail of the field so obviously those horses are going ok

the last qtr between blacks a fake and be good johnny was 26.6 again not bad going to break the new track record.

agree there should be more done to promote the future races.

that was the only gift symons was handing out as he had basically everything else all night under the other bookies

as for mt79 saying he mightnt bother the quality of racing last night was still clearly a cut above anythingelse we see here so i shall gladly back up after a 3 day break

sympathies with scd who has many valid points but fromw what i heard s hunter is saying that he did nothing to raise the tc02 reading to the level that it was.

yeah Mal, this backs up your arguement

The horse was given some biocharb something :?: due to it being dehydrated after the trip over from Melbourne, obviously concerned with the quick back up...it was well over the limit allowed so stewards scratched it...

I've spoken to a few friends on the TC02 subject in the past few days and really while still hurting my pocket and not happy with the series being run in 2 states, seems it was 100% the trainers fault...

The trainer has admitted to giving the horse a couple of saline drenches to rehydrate. Now having been to America and being pretty good at what he does the trainer would probably be making his own drench.. that means he would be mixing it himself and many drenchs have bicarb (this is what raises the TC02 level) in them... if he put too much in.. then that's why the reading went through the roof..

My understanding is they pre-raced every horse for the heats on Tuesday and again on Wednesday to check levels.. which is an outstanding idea and a good chance to catch the drug cheats.....

HOWEVER - the series should never ever be run in 2 states.... and there will be a major overhaul of the series next year in Melbourne, I have been told it will be a heat / semi / final situation with 7 days between the heats / semis / final... all Grand Circuit winners automatic entry into Semi's and the next best 24 or 36 horses race in the heats to make the semi finals.. great idea and revamp of the series!

I like the revamp concept for 2008
Pity its taken about 70 years to work it out.
Still on FLASHING RED the trainer should never have been put into that
situation in the first place.

Thanks for that reply SCD your a smart bloke for a WWT barracker.

Went to GDP for the first 5 races tonight.
Took little feMALe and friend and babysitted Little Bayman for the evening as well.
Splendid evening and entertainment, its just great to see the best horse flesh
in the country competing.
Bumped into MAY-Z and BAYMAN [those Glenelg barrackers stick together]

Got there at 4-00 and got in for free[will not explain how]
For dinner the 2 kids shared a kids nuggett meal for $6 and I had scoffed
into the salad bar....$2 per person for a feed[sure beats the $85 or $210 packages]
The kids shared the lemonade which was included in the meal.

Kids liked the car rides and liked watching the races.
They were disappointed they could not see the horses in the stabling enclosures.

Jimmy Jaques with his frenzied last 50m calls was good for the crowd.
Ray Fewings did the on course announcing
Simmo Jones was doing the commentating in the parade ring.

Good to see crowds on the lawn with thier familys and eskies.
The crowd and atmosphere reminded me of GDP in the 70s

I stayed long enough to see BLACKS A FAKE win its heat what a champ.

At last these burnt out horses can have a week off and recharge the batteries.

BAYMAN will comment on the race books.

I heard Adam Hamilton say it tonight - i'll make a few calls tomorrow (my mates will be either pissed or to tired to talk tonight) - but if this is the case.. I would expect some sort of legal action to be taken here.. this has the potential to be huge and really let's be honest it could only happen in Adelaide...

That was actually the first time I EVER did the $6 shared meal with the kids.
I only did it to prove the $85 to $215 packages were too exhorbitant.
In my post on the Inter tonight I actually enjoyed the racing etc, I sledged the
fact the horses are suffering from the over-racing in the heats in a short time.

In my time punting etc on course GDP for 30 years with TAB commisions, meals,
drinks I would have contributed about $50k profit for the club.
With TAB on course commissions being about 10% of turnover being the main $$$$$

I have no consoius over my $6 meal deal tonight as in 30 years of going there
I have never been approached by a commitee member or CEO for my patronage.
People like me should be given a free or discounted meal occasionally.
The Casino does.

PS during the week a mate of mine hada $16 mixed grill with a FLY in the meal
He chucked in the bin, we called a staff member over......no refund

with the $210 upstairs meal deal guess what ? well while it is booked out for next weeks final tonight they had 8 booked so they closed it down & sent the 8 downstairs ($85.00)   & i spoke to barry norman who said they did about 250 meals in the betting auditorium section & the same downstairs where the pokies are & they catered for more than double that

$210 for a feed is ridiculous, i'll elaborate more later as i better get lb to bed
i thought secret groups were a thing of the past, well not on websites anyway
