i took a quaddie at Albion Park on a friday twilight meeting at the end of May.

it was a jackpot

the NSW quaddie paid $150, the SUpertab all up on the win prices was much the same yet due to the JACKPOT the quaddie paid around $450.

If I take my dog quads and say work out this combination
123/12/1578/12458 = $120 for a $1 unit
What should I do in the event of a JACKPOT ?
Do I go wider with more runners ?
Do I take less and invest less ?

If I take that $120 combo[as I would every week irrespective of jackpot or not] would it pay
a greater dividend if everybody is going wider ?

Im still not up to date with the logic
Can someone educate me please

MAL as i pointed out the fact it was a jackpot inflated the divvie.

the all up was $150 the NSW tote dished out $150 for the quaddie that day while Supertote dished out $450 quaddie

if it wasnt a jackpot it would have paid much the same as the NSW divvie

I suppose what a Jackpot does it attracts birdbrain MUG punters
I remember a jackpot Brisbane races P4 with millions in it a few months ago
I was asked to join a dozen people in a syndicate of about 10 people
to invest $100 each which = about $1000 invested.

Here were a few guys with little idea about racehorses donating thier money[they lost]
Meanwhile the guys that do all the study, do markets etc licked thier lips no doubt.

BUT yet when I snare my trots jackpot quads over the years, I have noticed nothing abnorMAL

BUT sometimes small pools are proffessional proof and I in fact get monster divs.

MAL let me state right up front that I cant give an UNBIASED view because I have little time or respect for people having a serious punt on the Dogs !
The pools are shit and they dont interest me 1 iota.
The best punters this state has produced over the last 30 odd years are the MANUEL Brothers and they never wasted their time on Dog form.

I dont expect my views to be popular amongst many but I have never spoken a TRUER word.

As I have kept records I can only say that I am in front at the dogs in my lifetime.
Not that much but still in front
So if you little respect for me thats fair enough

If I spent 100 hours a week on form I would be unbeatable at gambling on dogs/trots
The Manuels are good BUT put in many hours of MANUAL labour.
Don Scott was very good but the sheer volume of work KILLED him as well.

Manuels were very good but sold up to IAS and now concentrate on Hong Kong Racing.
But like many of the successfull punters the value they could get dried up in recent years.

Don Scott died broke!!!!!!!!
There is a web site that still puts Don's work sheet in to play http://www.racingandsport.com, very good site but if you want to bet off his ratings let me know cos i'll hold ya bets!!!!!!!!

I remember being a down and out punter betting on the races
I saw this book for sale by Don Scott on WINNING and read the book in one day
I was so engrossed with the book
It was to be my salvation, as I was an incompetent races punter
I was a loser
This book was the turning point in my life as a bad punter
I was so impressed with the book content I gave away punting on horses !!!!!!!!!!

Scott was a genuis, but geez he worked bloody hard and put in the hours
That put me off knowing that I really had to do things as meticulously as Scott did
I learnt why I was losing from his book
That book has saved me thousands betting on race horses
I then went to the dogs/trots where part timers like me CAN win

I think DS took his own life ?

As a novice punter, really only starting this year,I have learnt that just because there is a race/game/event on I don't have to bet on it. That took a few months and 85% of my initial bank to register, so now I'm a little more considered and am slowly recovering ground. It is great having such dedicated punters available on here to watch and learn from and particularly enjoy the "million dollar challenge". Thanks gentlemen and keep up the good, instructional and entertaining work.

An exclusive for all of you, my system that I use at the races
Its not foolproof but it has remarkable results

CLASS 1 RACES ONLY ON COUNTRY TRACKS
IF A HORSE HAS HAD 8+ MAIDEN STARTS BEFORE WINNING
IT MISSES A PLACE IN ITS FIRST CLASS 1 TRY

If a horse has had less than 3 starts as a Maiden it can be placed ist up in a C1
In general the more starts it has in a maiden before winning equates to less chance of
being placed at its C1 debut

Its incredible how many last start MAIDEN winners are unplaced at shortish odds in its CI debut

Being a C1 student I have had some good trifecta results risking these horses
They might be good to lay on BETFAIR as well

DUTCHY
Just for some proof reading, pick up the paper on any given day
Look at the C1 races and noticed the formlines on horses that won
thier Maidens and then were unplaced the start after

An example of 21/08/07[Robert Harveys birthday]

Here is the form at Moe races today in the CI

race 5

2...S3816
7...23210 [THIS ONE IS A CLASSIC RAN 4 RACES IN THE PRIZEMONEY THAN THE CI DEBUT=0 ]
8...17652

race 7

2...718s
4...516s0
11..18s86

rockhampton races form

race6

3...54s18
7...s5214
9...80153
10..7150s

thats 10 horses in CI that had won thier Maidens and were unplaced at thier CI debut
not one horse was placed !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Todays qualifiers [watch them all run a place  ]

MR5-3...51.....[ $4-00 ][but has only had 2 starts so is not a big risk]
QR6-4...9401S [$6-00]
QR 6-5..50571 [$7-00 ]

So you would risk the 4 & 5 in QR R6 to not run places? MR R5 you wouldnt risk?
