Keep my fingers crossed.

Bad luck Squawk, pretty close.

Cheers PR...

Hmmm - got first, second and fourth (13-Zipping). This year the trifecta ONLY paid $1,100. Pretty low compared to other years.

I wish the TAB had a facility to tell you what your trifecta would have been worth if it had got up. I know it depends on how many winning entries there are but even so, it would be nice to know what you stood to win.....

Got the tri.....

Got the trifecta with the syndicate at work where we boxed 10 horses. Thought it may have paid more with the 20/1 shot getting up but the favourites dragged the price back down.

Also had a trifecta with a mate where we had Pop Rock winning and Delta Blues in the placings with Maybe Better but we missed that by about 6 inches - dammit.

Overall, lost a few dollars but had a reasonable go.......

TABCORP and the VRC have taken the first step towards adding emergencies to the 24-horse Melbourne Cup.

Tabcorp media and wagering general manager Robert Nason said Tabcorp would do all in its power to allow emergencies to be introduced by next year.
VRC chief executive Dale Monteith said: "If Tabcorp are convinced they can handle it, I can't see any reason why we wouldn't introduce them."

Nason said Tabcorp would even look at reintroducing brackets -- where a punter's selection can cover more than one horse -- for the Cup.

"I've spoken to the VRC and they've said go ahead and explore the possibility of emergencies, and for that matter any other alternatives," Nason said.

"There are a lot of complications in getting the software up to speed to handle the extra numbers. I would say next year will be difficult but I'm hopeful.

"Before we can go ahead I've got to speak to all of the other totalisator companies as they've got to come on board. They've all got to change before we commit to doing anything."

Nason said other countries that bet on the Cup, such as New Zealand, would need to be involved in discussions.

"Even South Africa. They don't have the capabilities to bet on fields with more than 20 horses and as a result they don't bet on the Melbourne Cup," he said.
