jackpot jim wrote:Very uninspiring SA Cup last night at Globe with the winner crawling along out in front and then hanging onto score narrowly.
As a spectacle it's a far cry from the glory days back in the 80s when the likes of Gammalite graced the track and later Whirley Dream finding the front from the outside gate and hanging on for a home town victory at the crazy odds of 20/1 :D :D Great memories

Any one there to report on what sort of crowd they get there these days on a Cup night ?

I went Italian Cup night and it was a big crowd.
I'd hope last night was equal or better.

There is 11 races on Tuesday at GD with 97 runners which is the most races and runners at a meeting outside carnival time in decades.

Things are picking up for them. They've had a reasonable good last 12months.

They have made some personnel changes which have helped promote the code on social media. GRSA should be concerned as the dogs and trots fight eachother for market share.

Yeah I've heard those rumours. He was the Kerry Packer style punter for trots.

Those at Globe Derby really need to get him on the phone and ask him why he is pulling out of the local chariots.
He certainly not far off Zjelko (think that's his name)

in the same mould as ZjelcO thats for sure. not quite as big but certainly as smart.

Perhaps the code could look at keeping him involved somehow/

I would like to see his phone. So would stewards.

Something was $61- 4.60 at GDP on Tuesday. It smelt like him. I think he has gone underground and still playing

 that's a market mover and could only be caused by one punter

Last at Maryborough today, the 6 is home and hosed at 50m mark and the sulky snaps in half with Chris Alford aboard. Never seen that before and just another way for punters to lose their money

Not at all

Tasmanian harness in a fair bit of stink with the whole Yole affair.

I always steered clear of the meetings where had had so many runners as I always thought he could decide who would win
