World Cup doddle - $3.35 to $1.37 in 2 months!
Just 2 months after suffering an infamous first 3-0 whitewash loss to New Zealand in 108 ODI’s, Australia is now $1.37 with Centrebet to win its fourth World Cup – and third in succession!
After another ridiculously easy dismantling of South Africa by seven wickets, Australia – heavily-backed on Centrebet right through the tournament – is a raging odds-on favourite to avenge the 1996 final loss to Sri Lanka, quoted at $3.15!
Under the heading - “World Cup tail-spin!†- Centrebet quoted Australia at $3.35 to win the Caribbean showdown two months back after suffering an unprecedented five straight one-day losses – yet from that point on it’s been one-way traffic!
“Australia has had more hurdles and slumps preparing for this World Cup than any on record – yet so far it’s been a doddle. They’ve again made a mockery of the rankings, and have probably forced embarrassed organisers to take a long hard look at the format of this competition,†Centrebet’s media chief Neil Evans said. “Sri Lanka will have its supporters, but Murali will need to bowl early and spin it sideways for them to have any chance in the final.â€
In NRL round 7 betting, Melbourne is $1.75 to avenge last year’s controversial Grand Final loss to the Broncos ($2.12) when they clash at Suncorp, while the hapless Dragons are now $4.50 on Centrebet to collect the “wooden spoon†after suffering a fifth straight loss!
