Interesting topic re first dismissals. Here are the breakdowns of the first dismissals from each match so far in the T20 world championships.

1. WI vs SA - ct, ct
2. Ken vs NZ - b, ct
3. Pak vs Sco - ct, ct
4. Aus vs Zim - ct wk, ct wk
5. Ban vs WI - ct, ct
6. Eng vs Zim - ct, ct
7. Ind vs Sco - Abandoned
8. Ken vs SL - b, lbw
9. Aus vs Eng - ct, ct
10. Ind vs Pak - ct, b
11. NZ vs SL - ct, ct
12. SA vs Ban - lbw, lbw
13. Ind vs NZ - ct, ct
14. Aus vs Ban - ct, ro
15. SA vs Eng - ct wk, ct
16. Pak vs SL - ct, ct

20 out of 30 dismissals (66.7%) have been caught any other fielder
3 out of 30 dismissals (10%) have been bowled
3 out of 30 dismissals (10%) have been caught behind
3 out of 30 dismissals (10%) have been lbw
1 out of 30 dismissals (3.3%) have been run out

Given the nature of the game, obviously 'caught any other fielder' is going to attribute to a high % of first dismissals. I think this is even more so in games at this end of the comp between stronger opposition. In contrast, you are probably more likely to see an increase in LBW's and Bowled when strong sides play weaker sides as bowlers are more likely to be attacking the stumps (as these stats show).

I reckon anything over $2 for 'caught any other fielder' for the first dismissal from each innings is great value! Especially given if no wickets fall then the bet is refunded. A $10 bet on each innings for 'caught any other fielder' at $2.10 as sportsbet have been offering would have you $120 up for the tournament.

I know stuff all about punting and rarely put my hard earned anywhere near a bet. But, I love reading your posts on stuff like this. Gold.

Some games have been lopsided involving minnows with below average bowling skills
I would imagine there is a possiblity or probability that with better bowlers left now, that
the Caught Behind dismissal will occur more regularly.

Just a thought perhaps I could very well be wrongggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggg.

Great stats by Eags, and if the Caught dismissal keeps happening keep punting
on it until at least it stops eventuating and continue the winning streak

One thing to consider with T20 matches is generally bowlers aren't looking to bowl length deliveries, therefore the chance for a caught behind is considerably reduced.

I think it is just about proven too.
Especially with the top teams.

mal, I haven't put the house on it as I don't have enough cash in my sportsbet account I'm using my math's teacher's advice slow and steady.

just because I have put money on it now it probably won't come up, but eags' stats just proved my assumption that in this type of cricket, caught fielder is fairly common
