KEITH MILLER THE REAL STORY

Postby mal » Sun Sep 30, 2007 10:18 am

Keith Miller is a name synominous in Australian sporting history.
It is famously belonging to the greatest allrounder produced in Australian cricketing history.
Its also a name belonging to an 88 year old absolute gentleman who frequents
the greyhound and trotting tracks around Adelaide.
KM and I have been buddies for a few years and always have a chat on course.
The Beatles song LET IT BE had a famous line which I will dedicate
to KM those words " SPEAKING WORDS OF WISDOM." KM always has great advice to give out.
KM regularly spins a yarn on racetrack stories to me.

KM has suffered the indignity of being robbed at the GDP meeting last week.
KM ventured away from his seating only to return and find his form guide
his pen and his glasses had been stolen by a middle aged low life.
A former TAB employee [twice robbed in an agency herself] witnessed the brazen robbery.
A discription of the man was made to security.

Some time after the robber returned to the betting ring and was identified by the ex TAB lady.
This would have been a sight the 88 year old KM chased the offender
About 15 other people in the betting ring also joined in and apprehended the culprit
Security quickly appeared on the scene and detained the robber.
The robber offered to re-imburse KM with a racebook but KM declined
Typically no forMAL charges were laid by KM who let the robber off the hook
KMs glasses and pen were still missing.

Later that evening KM left the racecourse a very disappoited individual
However lay luck does shine at times as KM found his glasses and pen in the carpark outside.

2007 will be a year to remember for KM
On August 22nd my marvellous mate caught a flight to Sydney
The crew got wind of why KM was on board
A message was relayed to the passengers[went something like this as KM told me last night]
" WE HAVE A CELEBRITY ON BOARD KEITH MILLER, KEITH IS TRAVELLING TO SYDNEY TO ACCEPT HIS PLACE IN HISTORY IN THE AUSTRALIAN HALL OF FAME...."[KM said he was embarrased]
KM was going to Sydney to be inducted in the Basketball Hall of Fame for his services in the sport
Little KM was the Olympic basketball Australian coach in the early 60s.

Keith Miller your a legend of the racecourse.
