rules of racing where you can not win

i think when a horse weighs in light (doesn't happen very often) & is then disqualified punters do their money cold because they could never have won, only lose & i think it should be declared a late scratching to protect the punter
i thought secret groups were a thing of the past, well not on websites anyway

I think anyone who backs anything Shane Dye is on should be given their money back for being under the false impression the man can ride well regularly - rarely have I seen a more overrated jockey, based on some wins in big races, against a host of ridiculously "heroic" rides (searching for non existent gaps, bringing them hopelessly wide, knocking other runners over to win etc etc etc)

MORALLY I have to agree 100% the punters are shafted with no recompence.
REALITY is that the TAB would not lose turnover and commissions by not refunding.

If we're talking about morality, shouldn't gambling be banned all together??

Its time [an old ALP slogan] the TAB takes care of its customers

One suggestion :
On TAB tickets punters can mark thier own subs for late scratchings

For example exhibit A for presentation
I take this treble

123478 1ST LEG
1 2ND LEG
123689 3RD LEG
COSTS $36 for $1 UNIT

The 2nd leg is a $1-80 fav
If its a late scratching you are placed on the favourite that the TAB finishes on
That might be a horse I have rated $15 and cant win, but Im stuck on it.
By giving me a sub box I could pre pick my 2nd pick not the sub.

this is rules of racing not rules of the tab thread, but seeing its on i agree that a punter should choose whether he has subs or not, some months ago i had a horse one out in trebles on a saturday & monday & they were both late scratchings & i ended up on horses i didn't want to be on

There is a story at a non-TAB meet where a disgruntled owner (scoob) went to the weigh in area to talk to his jockey after a second placing to enquire about a protest....and over heard that his horse was 2kg's light.... and nothing was done..... never have I seen scoob leave the mounting yeard so quick..... hence no protest was lodged... :D
BL are $1-00-2  thats not even $1-01
