i know there has been plenty of better horses than sting like a bee since that era but i'm asking has there been a tougher horse since then ?

Yes i think Stinger is a very tough Horse but i Query the Opposition its run against in the last 12 - 18 months and its last few Runs have only been against the locals due to EI.
Having said that , he would be up there.
