Angle Park 10/1/08

Are they on Tonight ?
If they are, Why ?
New Years Eve they were called off due to the 41 c Heat that was Forecast.
Todays Predicted Max is 41 c .
So why havent they been called off yet ?

Have SAGRA got a Hot weather Policy or do they just make it up as they go ? :? :? :?

its funny i said the same thing to centreman & ben harding at the cricket on tuesday night, i thought perhaps they might start later in the night or run on friday arvo, i thought the move to call them off was correct last time, but if they don't call them off tonight why did they call them off last time ?

ps, i feel sorry for those dogs in those little caravan type of trailers as it must be swealtering in there on days like today

GRSA would hate for tonights meeting to be called off given there are heats of the ADELAIDE CUP.

but they have a policy for a reason and they should follow it.

The New Years Eve meeting was a Night meeting i assume as the 1st race was programmed for 6.05 pm and it was Abandoned Presumably at the Discretion of the Stewards and the Vet.

The Forecast Maximum Temp for then and Today was 41 c so i cant understand why they havent been called off ? :? :? :?

Was it bcos some people had better things to do New Years Eve than work at the Dogs or is it Bcos Tonights Meeting is Deemed to be more Signifigant and would be too inconvenient to too many people to call it off. ??

Surely the Policy is in place for the dogs Safety and in my book, 41c is the same Heat on a Tuesday evening as it is on a Thursday Evening.

Kennels have been made available for interstate dogs from 1pm today. BUT still this will mean the dogs arrive at track when the temperature is still above 40 degrees. They will get out of the trailer and step onto a tarmac surface that would be over 50 degrees. I know this as the other week i took a temperature reading of our driveway when the temp here was 43 degrees. The reading stated it was over 55 degrees as that was the limit of the gauge so in fact it would have been hotter. SOme Interstate dogs travelling here would have to go through KEITH where the forecasted temp for today is 46 degrees and thats some 3-4 hours from Adelaide. I would be betting against any dog that has had to travel in a dog trailer from interstate today as the condition of the dog upon arrival would have to be very suspect.

Guarenteed if it wasnt an Adelaide cup heat meeting there would be no races on tonight as they would have cancelled them.

perhaps because the trots called of their meeting on new years eve the dogs felt they had to do the same & today they haven't got a lead to follow

what is wrong with running them tomorrow afternoon ?

JJ

maybe you are right GRSA authorities didnt want to be working New YEARS EVE and that this meeting is significantly more important.

but without dogs there wouldnt be any racing, surely they should be looked after and the policy should be implemented every time, not just when they feel its convenient.

well run them sunday night in the twilight zone & then they would clearly be the best meeting on & get an even better coverage than tonight & no dog would risk dehydration
