DO HARNESS RACING DRIVERS DO FORM B4 THEY GO OUT THERE....

Postby chiefy » Sun May 11, 2008 11:14 am

THAT`S A QUESTION I ASK THE TROTTING GURU`S ON THIS SITE....

AFTER WATCHING THE TROTS LAST NITE I WOULD HAVE TO SAY THERE ARE NOT MANY THAT THINK WHEN THERE OUT THERE...

GOING THROUGH THE RACES LAST NIGHT, HORSES THAT HAVE GOT NO HOPE, WANA CUM 3 WIDE WITH A LAP TO GO WHEN THEY CANT GO OR ARE UNDER PRESSURE .... IT HAPPENED IN A FEW RACES LAST NIGHT....WHAT ABOUT WHEN THEY WENT 64.5 FOR THE FIRST HALF IN 1 RACE,U KNOW THERE GOIN TO DASH HOME, WHERE WOULD U RATHER B, 3 OR 4 BACK THE RAILS OR 4 AND 5 WIDE..... IS IT THAT HARD TO THINK....
YOU SEE THESE MISTAKES MADE BY THE SAME PEOPLE TIME AND TIME AGAIN..
YOU VERY RARELY SEE THE HARDINGS,THE WEBSTERS AND THE HRYHORECS MAKE ANY MISTAKES. THEY R BY FAR ANY WITHOUT DOUBT THE STATES TOP 3 DRIVERS AND THEN THERE IS A LONG WAY TO THE REST OF THE BATCH...WHY... COS THEY DO THERE FORM.
THESE DRIVERS DRIVE THERE HORSE TO THERE CAPABILITIES, ARE NOT AFRAID TO SIT ON THE RAIL...
WHEN DO U SEE THEM CUM 3 OR 4 WIDE ON A HORSE THAT CANT GO OR IS UNDER PRESSURE...NEVER...

WHAT R YOUR OPINONS TROTTING GURU`S.
FIRST MAIDEN TO SALUTE,new fav. M. Laird, he's been texting lose me number, and wants to play with her hooters and said he'd leave struttrer for her, thats a start for him

cheify you are correct but there is no need to SHOUT at us & the reason(s) that it is more prevelant today is because some of the best that was here are now residing in victoria or elsewhere including simmo in new zealand because if he stayed here he as mal predicted would be near the top of the pile, which means automatically there is less good drivers here which gives others an opportunity but they never ever seem to learn & that's where any other sportsman improves learning from mistakes but they dont here

on another point some drivers/participants aren't happy with some comments made on this forum (including some of my comments) but if i go to or watch any sport i can criticise their performance yet some drivers etc seem to think it shouldn't be allowed, it is the ols saying you pay an entry fee & you are entitled to say anything you want unless it is racist or personel in any form, for example i don't know what the difference would be with me yelling to a footballer 'you couldn't kick over a jam tin' after seeing a miskick or yelling to a driver 'you couldn't drive nail through butter'
what is the difference ?

Instead of solely directing the criticism at the drivers, I would focus
more on the lack of Stewards enquiries into driving tactics
If Stewards make the drivers more accountable Im sure the
overall instance of questionable driving tactics will diminish.

I also completly agree MAL... a number of bad drives get away with killing races regularly.

In answering Cheify's question - a number of the drivers in Adelaide wouldn't know what a formguide was and figure that just because their horse has been 3 deep at the bell the last 15 starts and run last that they might have to try it again to see if they can finally win a race this week

There are a number of drivers who do form and are better drivers for it (don't overdrive them unless they think the horse can cop it in that race). It's this studying of form that makes blokes like Harding, Hryhorec, M Webster and to a lesser extent blokes like T Hoare (who doesn't drive much quality or quantity) far better tactical drivers then a number of the drivers out there (I won't name them), who continually overdrive there horses and do things like come off the fence when drawn 7 and the 1 leads (only for the sprintlane horse to win) or come three wide at the bell on a horse that just can't get warm off the fence.
Port Power has 16 years history at Football Park...

The Port Magpies have 40 years history and the two shall never be confused or combined

mal, i think you've hit the nail on the head, this is probably where drivers could improve, if questioned some may realise mistakes that have been made & rectify them in the future
