After seeing the monte trial and exhibition i am now convinced it is a $6000 joke our industry can ill afford, did i just miss 10 years and our industry is now booming and we have copious amounts of money that we can squander on such an event or is it yet another case of the powers that be making a mess of things.
How can this industry afford such an event, the trotters in this state are a big enough blight on our racing without making them worse by putting drivers on their backs. Does anyone seriously think people will bet on this race ?
Ive got a real issue with the trotters in this state and i never bet on them, most of them cant trot for a start and if the stewards did their job and stood these trotters down we might have less trotters races but better quality. How many small field trotters races do we see where half of them cant trot and the field is strung out over 200 meters - it needs to be looked at. 10 horse minimum fields for a start, rub out the ones that always break and with a bit of luck we will only have one trotters race per week. Still one too many if you ask me.
As for the monte if we go ahead and throw 6 grand at this farce it will convince me our industry is being run by incompetent fools. Sure put on a monte i could do with a good laugh and thats all it will be but 6k is blatantly irresponsible.

i actually thought it looked spectacular but it should be done as an entertainment show during the summer carnival not as an actual race, although one horse in particular seems to be very good at it

maybe we should be betting on the pony races instead!!!!!!!

Having drivers as jockeys on trotters is a novelty and will be a spectacle of sorts
But to have $6000 prizemoney is astounding
If on course attendances and TAB turnover exceeds expectations I might change my mind.
Personally not one razoo of my finances will be bet on a race like this

What will absolutely positively piss me off is if this race is a leg of the Quaddie.

That means the quaddie on that night could pay more than normal Mal!!!
like all the exotics on the last race at gawler on friday which would of paid more if you weren't born!!!!
