BANNING OF FOOD AT ANGLE PARK!

JUST THOUGHT I WOULD POST AN EMAIL I HAVE SENT TO GRSA IN REGARDS TO THE BANNING OF FOOD BEING TAKEN ONTO THE PREMISES AT ANGLE PARK!

I would like to air a concern of mine in regards to banning of food being brought onto the premises of Angle Park.

On a personal note as a father on a disability pension with 4 teenage children I couldn’t afford for the family to eat the food and drinks they dish up. My kids are state ranked Athletes who eat a strict diet and there is nothing on offer at Angle Park for them. Yes they have the occasional days where they can eat what they like but in no way would I let them eat what’s on offer at Angle Park on a Monday night or Wednesday meeting.

Any other sporting arena in Australia allows us to take our own food and drinks into the complex BUT NOT Angle Park.

If Angle Park start offering some decent healthy well balanced food at reasonable family prices and then AND ONLY THEN will people even contemplate eating at Angle Park.

As previously stated in this email my children are all state ranked athletes with my eldest son being ranked in the top 5 in South Australia in 6 different Athletic events, and therefore are restricted to eating an extremely well balanced diet. Now there is nothing on offer for them to eat at Angle Park with most meals on a Monday night or Wednesday morning either being deep fried or full of fat. With this new rule banning any food being brought onto the premises of Angle Park GRSA are now expecting people with a certain dietary need to be on track for 3-4 hours without providing any healthy alternative food.

I seriously doubt this decision has been made with the full well being of GRSA patrons in mind.

THANKYOU for your time in reading my concerns as a trainer, patron of GRSA and a concerned Father!

Now dont you think the only thing banned at Angle Park on Monday nights and Wednesday morning is the FOOD that GRSA themselves dish up

Can-not believe this ban
This is one of the most idiotic lamebrained things that might ever be enforced on a racetrack.

Effectively you are discriminating against what a person can or cant eat.
The Ryles boys are on specialised athletics diets
Ive seen the lads and they are to coin a phrase lean mean fighting machines.
They are not built like this by eating the food at the dog tracks

I am a person who consistently takes my own food to the racecourses and sports venues
The reason why?
I am encouraged by my health practioners to eat certain foods and avoid certain foods.
I am told to avoid fatty fried foods and eat primary Organic foods when possible
Angle Park does not in general fit my dietry criteria

I will aplogise to GRSA if they intend to serve in the future :
Green Tea
Organic tossed salads
Organic Vegetables
Organic meats and Poultry

This ban at a time when clubs are trying to entice people on course :butthead:

I ask everyone to PLEASE email GRSA and vent your grievances at this idiotic decision.

The only contact email i have is Shaun Mathieson at GRSA
shaun@grsa.com.au i emailed him and his reply was that he has passed it onto the relevant people.

Surely if enough people air their grievances they MUST START to listen.

I understand that if you take your own food into any resteraunt you should be banned
BUT
You go to a restearunt to EAT !
I understand you should not be able to take your own food into the eating area at Angle Pk
BUT
You go to the dogs mainly to watch the dogs go around
So sure dont eat in the eating areas
But surely you can eat your own tucker in the betting ring, outside, and in the carpark.

I have heard but this has to be confirmed.
A popular leading feMALe trainer was asked to leave the dog track when she was eating SUBWAY?
Without knowing the full circumstances this is an over-reaction on face value.
A vic'tory for the dog club, or a big time loss in the long term ?

This is what GRSA have placed in the kennel capers some weeks ago!

FOOD AND BEVERAGE MANAGER’S REPORT
by Leigh Rogers

NO FOOD OR DRINK ON-COURSE

Patrons are advised that under no circumstances can food or drink be brought on-course during race days and race nights.

I also agree that when the buffet etc is open then NO-ONE should be able to take food UPSTAIRS but why not allow people to eat DOWNSTAIRS where there are chairs and tables located.

R-K
Thats the rules, and we must abide by those rules
Unfortunately on course attendances might drop
Quite simply I will have to get a pass out and eat my tucker outside the premises
And its bloody hard getting a bet on if Im eating on Cardigan Road

Dunno who makes these rules
Everyone I know that works at APK are generally nice people

do we live in australia as it is supposed to be a FREE COUNTRY ffs

i stopped going to the dogs altogether when they banned pilko (the pasty man) as that was ludicrous & this decision is even worse    so the grsa miss out on my turnover when i was going which to be fair was about once a month & the turnover was between $1,000.00 - $2,000.00 but it has also lost depending on which group i was with 8-18 people plus turnover 6 times a year we now eat usually at the buckingham arms but it does change, the only reason i'll ever step foot on that track again is if 'the champion' is racing there & then i'll be betting on the phone with SPORTSBET & EATING AT MACCA'S OR THE LIKE ON THE WAY HOME

GRSA = A BIG HEADED EGO/DICTATORSHIP

I would say ALLEDGEDLY!!!! LEIGH ROGERS the FOOD and BEVERAGE manager would have to of made a complaint to GRSA about patrons bringing food onto the premises for this stupid decision to have been made.

YES i also agree just because my kids are athletes and have to eat a specialized diet they are in fact being discriminated against, and for what reason SIMPLY because they are healthy, extremely fit athletes.

BUT what about those patrons with health issues and also have to eat a specialized diet.

BAYMAN I AGREE
Ive mentioned that in a previous post
I need to eat specialised food and yes it does discriminate against me
I have 2 choices
Eat at home
Eat outside APK
Either way it discourages me from rolling up

SO the new rule = 2things
A: Roll up if one of my dogs is running
B: Roll up in a few years time for a reunion with you guys

HAS GRSA opened themselves up for a CLASS ACTION law suit here???
Discrimination against the fit n healthy and also those with dietary requirements due to health issues.

Such an obvious solution to a stupid decision.

Allow patrons to eat DOWNSTAIRS or on the LAWN area!!

On a wednesday these are the food options at APK
This is only what I have seen[may have changed since a few months ago]

Bacon and Eggs[and toast?]
Pies
Pasties
Fried sticks of something
[might be other things on the menu, that I havent seen?}

Now lets face facts
If you have health problems like the heart or high blood pressue, how can you eat the food choices being offered for this breakfast menu.

I usually for breakfast have
oats
fruits
vegetable juices
green teas
eggs

Occasionally I have toasts, crumpets.

If Angle Pk can-not supply that then I am being encouraged not to roll up there

Australia is officially the fattest nation in the world
Isint it time some of our race courses provided healthier options ?

perhaps they don't have to give you those options mal but they should be able to let those who for whatever reason eat the food they want/need to & let them bring it in without this bull5h1t as i said they don't get my money at all anymore

Surveyed 29 people
Question
" Angle Pk has banned people from bringing thier own food on course."

Survey results to date
27 say that APK is wrong
00 say Angle Pk is right
02 say who cares

A well known punter who frequents the dog tracks known as Flash Eddie, always brings his own tucker on course has intimated to me that he is stunned at the GRSA for enforcing the food ban.

I think its one of the worst descisions ever made by a club
At this stage I cant think of 1 other sporting complex where I cant take food
That includes
FOOTBALL PK
ADELAIDE OVAL CRICKET
GAWLER DOGS
ALL SANFL OVALS
CHELTENHAM RACES
MORPHETVILLE RACES

Everyone email them i have, any normal trainer simply cannont afford to eat at angle park 3 times a week $7.50 for a toasted ham and cheese its crazy, We quite regularly walked to servo and bought Coffee and doughnuts but since the 'ban' i have been getting coffee from upstairs i have waited many times over 20min and had to give it away as i was in the next race they just dont care there is no idea of customer service the staff are sullen and unhelpful except for lisa and marissa :) Trish and leigh unhelpful even nasty on ocassions, What makes it worse is the kennel staff all are still allowed to bring their own food why shoudnt the trainers, Now i have a sister with 3 small children who adore the dogs they would love to come out ever monday have a meal and watch the dogs but financially its impossible for them especially if you want a couple of drinks it ends up a $100 night factoring petrol to get there, Im just of the opinion that Apk worrys about the wrong thing i still have not recieved a sorry for the incendent which has ruined Melena Bale as a race bitch (she ran over 200m further than she should have) anyway thats my ramble for the day :D
