our sponsors have a market on this

6 weeks or below $2.15
7,8 weeks $1.85
9 weeks plus $6.00

i'm thinking the 9 weeks may be some value with the afl wanting to put a stamp on this after barry hall twice & then this

any thoughts gentlemen & ladies

I think the 9 is very good value, but would suggest it will be somewhere between 6-8 weeks.

Solomon has a record but surely he cant get more weeks than hall?!?!
My money is on 6 weeks or less. He has already publicly confessed and Ling and he are meant to be mates

Think I heard on AFL Game day that Solomon has 30% loading on whatever he gets due to his priors. With this in mind I would back 7-8 wks.

What a joke! A spur of the moment decision to lift the elbow is worse than Barry Hall deciding the easiest way to get rid of a niggly player is to knock him out?? Don't get me wrong Solomon has always been a dirty player and the injury to Ling was worse than Staker's but that supposedly doesn't come into it. Once again the AFL gets it wrong at the tribunal.

For once i would have to agree with you ZC, i thought Solomons actions were no worse than Hall's. Solomon showed more remorse than hall (if that counts for anything), and at least the footy was in the same vicinity as Solomon.
To rub him out for more games than Hall is unbelieveable.
Dont get me wrong, i thought both should have got a lot of games, but one should not have got more than the other.
Saw the vision of Diesel Williams again this morning pushing the umpire where he got 9 games...wonder what would happen today if the same incident occurred? If an umpire is in your face how are you meant to let him know his presence isnt welcome?

I thought according to their guidelines they got it absolutely spot on, I think the points system is great, takes the emotion out of the decision and makes it very straight forward and easy to predict. I can't see how the bookies can make money out of these sort of bets.

But there guidelines are flawed. Solomon would not have gone to that contest with the intention to hurt Ling that was a last minute decision. Barry Hall wasn't in a contest and made the choice to "assault" Staker how can that not be worse? According to the guidelines both were intentional high contact with excessive force, one was in play one wasn't. How can the in play incident be worse than a behind the play incident?

As soon as I saw the incident I thought it was obvious it would get more than Hall, a running elbow is much more dangerous than a quick jab to the jaw. The West Coast player got a concussion, Ling got a depressed cheekbone.
Quite obvious mate.

If that was a "quick jab", Barry should quit footy and get back into the ring...i would hate to see his left hook!!!
Tribunals cant look at the outcome. Staker could have got a broken jaw or cheekbone out of it, just a matter of circumstance.

Staker could have had anything to him, simple fact of the matter is that a flying elbow with metres of momentum is always going to cause more damage than a fist to the head with a foot of momentum. Hence it should be penalised more and accordingly was.
It wasn't a fluke that Ling copped a worse injury than Staker, 99 times out of 100 it would.

Can't agree with you there Wedgie. The potential for brain damage as a result of the Hall incident could have been far worse than Solomon's elbow to the face. Fortunately for Staker it wasn't though. I really can't believe Hall ended up with less than Solomon.
