Printer friendly Text size+- BOOKMAKERS are set to gamble against an injury-riddled Geelong when it plays the Western Bulldogs at Skilled Stadium on Saturday. TAB Sportsbet's Gary Davies said the Cats would have been no more than $1.35 had they not lost Cameron Ling and probably Gary Ablett to injury.
"It's been a huge talking point among our price assessors and we're set to go up to $1.47 the Cats and only $2.50 the Bulldogs. The Dogs would have been $2.90 if the Cats were at full strength."
The Cats will almost certainly be without their best player and their No. 1 tagger and there is a question mark over one or two others.
Darwin Sportsbet's Phil Hannah said Geelong's injury list continued a theme for the Bulldogs.
"The Dogs have been absolutely blessed in their biggest matches this season. In almost all of them, the opposition team has been missing at least one or two big names. It's happened again," Hannah said.

Lasseters Sports Gerard Daffy said the Cats could even drift to $1.50.
"I'm tipping a big rally for the Dogs. They really get their chance and the Cats are coming off a very physical game," Daffy said.
Flemington Sportsbet's Norm Short is the odd man out.
"I think the right odds for Geelong is $1.33. Remember, the game is at Skilled Stadium," Short said.
Short said the Geelong-Bulldogs game had overshadowed another crucial clash next week.
"All of a sudden the Richmond-Essendon game is massive," he said.
"How things have changed in the past three weeks. This is now a real crunch game for the final eight.
"The Tigers are a great chance of making the eight now. If they beat the Bombers, they are halfway there.
"Plenty of other contenders for the eight are looking shaky. The Crows have fallen off the perch, the Lions are struggling but have the Eagles at the Gabba next week, and the Blues are just battling."
Richmond's demolition of West Coast last night was a huge result for betting shops.
The Eagles were backed from as much as $2.05 into $1.73, including one bet of $100,000 at $1.80 with Darwin Sportsbet. Flemington Sportsbet also took $20,000 at $1.82. A TAB Sportsbet punter took advantage of the Tiger drift ($1.80 to $2.20) and swooped with $30,000.
Skinny odds did not stop some punters splurging huge dollars on Geelong, the Bulldogs and Collingwood for their wins. Darwin Sportsbet took $100,000 on the Cats pre-game at $1.07 and another $50,000 (to win just $1000) at $1.02 when Geelong led by 33 points at halftime.
Sportingbet Australia reported a $100,000 single bet on the Bulldogs, while a daring Collingwood fan splurged $100,000 at $1.52 when it trailed by three points at halftime.
Not all of the in-play bets had happy endings. One punter put $50,000 on Port Adelaide at $1.62 at three-quarter time, only to watch it surrender a 10-point lead and lose to the Kangaroos by two points.
Geelong's injuries have not had an impact on premiership betting.
Davies said the Cats remained $1.90 fav from the Dogs and Hawks at $5. "The Hawks were $5.50 into $5 and Collingwood keeps shortening. We were $11 a week ago, but we're now $8.50," Davies said.
