GRANT Hackett's coach, Ian Pope, has sent out text messages to close friends and associates saying the swimmer is unwell, Beijing Now has learned.

The news comes after unconfirmed reports swept through Beijing's Water Cube that Hackett was sick just hours before his 1500m heat.

Hackett's health is the talk of the Australian swimming camp as he embarks on his quest to become the first male swimmer to win three consecutive Olympic golds in the 1500m.

Officials have publicly played down the talk, but a swimming insider has informed the media in Beijing that Hackett is suffering from a mystery ailment.

Hackett has drifted in betting for his pet event from $1.50 to $1.85 after his disappointing sixth in the 400m last Sunday.

ps. I didnt ever declare Hackett, all I suggested was he swam a top heat and didnt look crook and the same in the final where the better swimmer saluted.

Also I checked your posts and no mention of the winner in your best 4 or 5 hopes. :oops:

I actually backed 8 runners (swimmers) RK (3 didnt even make the final inluding Vanderkaay). I only pointed out a few quickly that were over the odds compared to sportsbet who had a more correct market framed.

Sorry for pointing out and sharing Value and backing a winner next time I will just shut up and let you all take $1.40 Hackett.

And no i wouldnt back Hackett at $1.40 it wasnt good enough odds for me so i didnt have a bet at all.

After backing 8 swimmers did you end up in front or behind on the event??
