Has anyone, or does anyone, venture into this area? My mate has done a few and checking the odds - long shots but great payouts.

My tip this week;
HIGH - Geelong
LOW - Melbourne
$10 punt returns $700

have ventured into that side of investment a few times.
I like to have a crack at it when the weather is absolutely miserable everywhere and there are high scoring teams playing at the DOME. Anchor the DOME teams as the high into the others playing in the wet as low.

Yeah that's what I'm looking at this week actually
Geelong/Hawks is the only game in Melbourne outside in the weather. The other four are in the Telstra Dome.
Carrara = Muggy and hot - raining too possibly.
Subiaco = 30 odd, warm.
AAMI = 23 and fine.

yeah but then you may have to take the game here in adelaide if the weather is 23/fine.
i prefer to do it when there arent as many games at the DOME.
obviously the best time to do it is in june/july

I just calculated the percentage on that market and it comes to 182%. Much higher than most other books on offer, meaning
very poor value for the punter.
As a general rule, the simpler betting options provide a greater return on average to the punter - they get away with higher percentages on "exotic" books because punters are attracted by their novelty value.
You can only make money (in the long run) in such situations if the bookies make a really obvious oversight...

I know - but I'm still tempted =) More so for the thrill of picking it correctly - rather than the return!

A mate of mine wsa waxing on about this 2 years ago- I was into line/points in multies, he was into highs/lows. He said he had a few sensational collects, made a healthy profit for the year. I don't think he did so well last year, he's waiting for the wet weather/telstra dome doubles. I had a few nibbles last year, need a decent bank to begin with for this. I think i'll stick to trying to back winning teams first! (notice you Bay fans didn't thank me for putting the Yabs in my bets of the week!

15 bucks on Essendon-West coast
Western Bulldogs are a free flowing high scoring side. Essendon will need to go the shoot out to match them, and they've got fire power up forward to do it.
Meanwhile, Richmond knows it doesn't have the power to match it with West Coast. So they choke the life out of the game and escape with a small win.
Sound likely? Maybe not, but 15 bucks for a chance at 15 grand...

That's the problem - you can make a scenario for ANY result in the high-low. I like the way you thought about that one though!!
I'm saving the odds from now onwards so that after the week happens I can see what odds WERE on the winning result.

if you are in melbourne you can actually see the fluctuations of any sportsbet. they have a system similar to the i-select computers in the TABS here in Adelaide and they give out the opening price, highest, lowest and final price.
i like that idea because its always good to find out what price things were when they opened to the close.
