Someone's Lost Themselves A Customer!

Ok. I went down to the Morphettville Auditorium today after work, & went to check prices etc. Went up to Bookmaker X & asked for SANFL prices. They said they'd bring one over to me, & they did. After a while, I went & asked about AFL prices (I expected to have them all on one sheet...)- the reply? "No, we're too busy, look at the board!" I looked as if to say "your joking?", turned around walked off, then thought "nah, bugger this", & walked over to Seal's to write down prices & bet there instead. Well, they must've noticed al of this, because 15 mins later, they came running over with the prices, apologising, saying the computer was being updated etc... Well, if that was the case, why not politely say that at the time? I've decided that my betting will be done by Curly from now on, unless there are discrepancies in the prices. Someone's lost themselves a customer!

They are running scared as you have made losses in the first 2 rounds of the SANFL and are due for a collect.

yes, thankyou Sledgie...! I had my table over the other side of the room, & I wished to sit there & study the sheets (just like I have every week for the last 3 years). Seriously tho, how hard is it to- print out a sheet for customers (they usually have a stack of them), or say "sorry, we're updating our prices on the net at the moment, I'll bring one over when ready". The service at this particular Bookies outlet has slipped a great deal. I like to think long & hard before I lose my money, & it's my right as a punter!

& rightly so. Mr Thornton has felt my wrath in the past, & hopefully he (through Steve Churches) feels it again!

perhaps pr could've just looked at the board but in business there is a thing called 'customer service' & from what pr said there was none of that after the initial sanfl odds they gave him & when they saw they were going to lose business what happened ??????????????

You will never EVER be lost as a customer with
John Thornton.
They make to many mistakes with their odds.

Bayman makes a living of Thornton by picking him of.

I still don't understand the issue as I just wander over to where the bets are laid out, work out my bets in my head in 5 seconds and make my bets including complex multis.
Go back to school and do Math if you have troubles with it!
Imagine if everyone wanted a printout to sit down and read before making a bet, he'd make a loss on paper alone!
Seriously you should have a good idea of the odds before you get there anyway with bets in plan that would only require a few seconds of tuning.
Surely you'd only be betting SANFL with him when you can get much better odds most times for AFL and other sports elsewhere?

Lucky you're not with Centrebet, christ if you think getting a piece of paper with odds printed out on it is bad service you'd be flying up to Alice Springs and burning CB down if you'd had the problem I had with them after being a long term customer.

I think I agree with you on that one. Remember, the customer is always right.

There's nothing wrog with my maths- 13 years of punting has strengthened it, not weakened it.

Well guess what? They do provide printed sheets- have been doing so since I first started betting with them in about 1995. I use the sheets to look for value. Smart punting dictates that if you can get 3/1 about a genuine 8/10 chance, then you back it.

Well until that happens, I won't know. But using your logic above, you must have been doing something wrong, as your suggesting that I'm in the wrong for expecting a printout of the odds?

i can understand what you are saying PR, they normally have had the printed sheets for the SANFL and AFL sitting on the desk. GOD knows what they would have been busy doing, i wouldnt have thought that they were run off there feet with business.

also you have to take MALs point into account in that you cant just stop betting with Thornton, because he does make mistakes and you have to make him pay, its going to hurt him more by paying you out then not getting any of your money.

MT79- he's just not getting my "general business"... don't worry, if there's stinging to be done, he'll be stung.

PUNK ROOSTER RE: STING

I have the same philosophy as you.

If you have a spare 15 hours Bayman will tell
you about his stings vrs Thornton.

Don't get me wrong Punky, I fully agree with Mighty Tiger in that its not as though they're usually busy, every time I've been there Ive had to wake them up to put a bet on, but I usually have my bets worked out beforehand with an allowance for slight change in odds.
Lets just say if that's the worst issue you've had with a bookmaker then you're doing a lot better than most of us!
