Melbourne Cup Trifecta Selections

I'm gonna have a stab at the trifecta again this year. There's always a huge pool and usually a good payout. Last year I boxed 6 horses at half a unit and cracked it, so I'm gonna try the same again.

Unfortunately a poll maxes out at 20 options so a field of 24 wont allow a proper poll. But post your three names/numbers (boxed) if you like.

At this stage my boxed six (half unit) are 1 (Septimus), 3 (Honolulu), 8 (Mad Rush), 11 (Littorio), 12 (Bauer), 18 (Profound Beauty).

If any are scratched then 4 (C'est La Guerre) will move in.

I have also laid an each-way bet on Kiwi mare Prize Lady at 150/1. She is a 2-time winner at the trip (2 x Auckland Cup) who should be well suited if there is any rain and the only horse in the field who has won in the wet and won at the distance. Seems value at 150/1 so why not?

Remember for once a year punters that there is the Flexi option available this year i.e. able to select a smaller percentage of the dividend to be able to pick more options

good luck Squawk

LOL - make it 4Ms - M is the Roman numeral for 1,000 - go back it in! (even 1000 cents is a mere $10!)

Good question, can't remember.

I think it is 6x5x4x3x2x1 divide by 2 which is $180. Maybe I'll go a quarter unit!

Box 6 is $120 I reckon mate, so half that.

I've been a big fan and it's won me some $ but Im off Littorio now, much will depend on the weather but at this stage Im leaning toward a 6 of:

Nom De Jeu
Mad Rush
Profound Beauty
Barbaricus
Ice Chariot
Moatize

I haven't put the hours in at the office with the paper yet, so it's subject to change lol

Ive boxed 8 at a quarter unit for 25% of the dividend and it cost $84.

Same six I mentioned above plus C'est La Guerre and Prize Lady.

Looked long and hard at a few others (incl Gallopin) but wasn't swayed....

my trifecta for the cup is a rover:
12 - Bauer (rover)
1-Septimus
2-Master O Reilly
7-Zipping
8-Mad Rush
9-Ice Chariot
11-Littorio

For my $5 i get 5% and some interest in the cup.
Hardly knew any of the runners in the field so it was really hard to sort of pick a select few.

Yet another novice here... :D

I usually take a boxed trifecta of 3 horses which I think is $6 for 1/2 unit and $12 for 1 unit?

I like Mad Rush, Zipping, and Septimus.

I'm also taking one with Septimus, profound beauty and Barbaricus.

What will boxing 4 horses cost me for half and full unit?
