Your Betting Rules

Just wondering what individual rules each other place on themselves when it comes to having a bet. Obviously they will be different for most people depending on the seriousness you take your punting.
Serious and the not so serious answers welcome. Ill get the ball started

1. Only ever bet if i can afford to loose.
2. Only ever bet on something i will get to watch or get live score updates.
3. NEVER EVER EVER EVER bet on the Redbacks to win.
4. Never ever tell the wife if i have had a win.
5. Never bet on a cricket match played between two sub-continent teams
6. I never back a horse first up from a spell
7. And i will never again back against a 30+ game winning streak like i did with the Ire vs NZ union game on the weekend.

This type thread may have been done before if it has i apologise.

If my dad wins any money it goes like this:

Wins $100
Tells wife won $50

Wins $200
Tells wife won $100

tell the wife occasionally and throw her a $50-, usually keeps her happy for a while.....I like saving the winnings and then pay for the next holiday etc, something big always goes down well :D

I would be saving well past this life time to use my gambling winnings to pay off a holiday, unless we stay at the Smithfield Hotel classy establishment. :?

Will never have a serious bet again on a horse ridden by Jim or Larry Cassidy.

I'd be rooted if I never backed anything 1st or 2nd up.

J Lyon & K Forrester are the two no goes for me, ever.
As soon as The Power start chipping it sideways get on the opposition, no matter what the score.
& in years gone by, always backed Fields of Omagh, Basic Instinct & Divine Maddona in everything they went around in.
If Wedgie picks something in a comp & does'nt put his hard earned on. It's home.

From memory I got early 33's on both Cox Plates, he always ran a shitter the run before. Pales beside the strike rate & prices that Basic Instinct won & was placed at, Jesus that thing won us some money.
The mares Pleach & Angst also were pretty good money spinners, & of course Nicholas John, who I almost named my first born after until a big mouth mate spilled the beans on the origin of the name. (still got the Nicholas in)
