Scone Racecourse - Country NSW

We happened to be up Scone way over our holidays and had time to spare. The Scone races were on so we decided to pop in and have a look.

First impressions were great. The course itself was in excellent condition. The grandstand was in the form of a 'big top' with the betting ring in the middle, food and drink on the outer part and chairs, tables and other seats overlooking the mounting yard.

Best part, it was a Tuesday meet, so it was free entry. Cans of beer were $3.50. There would've been about 40 people there which I thought was a great turn out for a Tuesday meet.

The facilities were excellent overall.

The ONLY drawback was that the location was a windtunnel. Any horse coming down the straight who provides great sectionals - it should be noted that they will be running with a gale behind them.

Well done Scone racing club, we were all very impressed!

Maybe the SAJC could take note and get some people back to the course by making it free to get in, even on Saturday.

4. They panicked though. One bloke put 300 on some horse, and they all dragged the odds in.

Did you expect 100, 300 people on a Tuesday meet? This wasn't Scone cup day.

must have been more than 40 there :D , owners trainers and jocks would make up double that at least, however more importantly the facilities, amenities etc leaves us for dead, last time i went to a saturday meeting at morphettville in jan 07 it was like a ghost town, bloody terrible, wont see me and the family back there in a hurry

yeh i was meaning there were 40 people that I could easily determine had nothing to do with the horses itself.

There would've been about 200 all up I'd reckon.
