Favourites running at $2.30 to win and $8.10 to place only happens on a rare occasion, and i remember a few months ago reading about this.
Apparently what happens is there is a betting plunge on TAB in a race with a small market (usually early morning dogs) and they punt 7 runners fo the place and leave one (usually the favourite) for odds to blowout on TAB, then punt on another website offering TOTE odds.

Usually this results in a pretty big win.

Definitely something is going on here along the lines of the Lucy Light sting on Curly Seal.
Last Monday on Manawatu (NZ) dogs Race 1 on S/Tab the win pool was $4,393 and the Place pool a Whopping $15,256 resulting in the 2nd fav paying $10.20 a place ($3.60 a Win). It ran 3rd.
Then in Race 3 with a Win pool of $5,470 and a Place pool of $14,731 the $1.10 Fav Wins and pays an incredible $5.30 for a place

Surely there's still not bookies out there leaving themselves open to be stung as Seal was?

Good luck getting on!!!!!
I've been barred from betting on Australian Gallops with this sites pin up betting agency(Sportsbet). Sent them a email asking why 3 days ago, Still No reply. This after they rang me offered me credit and wanted me to bet with them!!!!!!!!!! (worked out winning less than 10k over last 2 years of betting)
Tipping they (corp bookies) would bar ya pretty quick, if they got stung!!!
They all have win limits in their rules, so Not to sure about these big wins happening!!!!!

yeah no one is winning big here, might win a few thousand but all bookies have limits these days thanks to the Seal saga

Centreman, If you want me to look into it via my contact at Sportsbet, PM me your details

Dutchy I think you'll find Centreman's decision was made from the VERY top and is similar to a decision made against a close relative of his a few months back.
